Columbus Air Force Base, August 25-26

I've officially started taking base access forms for this event. Check out the Events section of the website for full details.

I want so see some newcomers at this event. If you're reading this and considering coming out for your first time, just do it - you won't regret it. If you decide to join the SCCA at the event, you get a day's entry fee waived.

Most importantly, if you have any inclination of coming to the event (as a spectator or a participant), you absolutely must submit a Base Access Form by noon on Sunday, August 19. There's no reason to delay - do it now, before you forget.

Probably no air conditioners but I will have my tent with a few fans. Should be good to keep cool some.

MMP yesterday was like that.  Official temperature - 103.  I measured 111 - 113 degrees around 3 PM.  Make sure there is LOTS of water and as much shade as you can get.  I dont' think I'll be able to make this one, with the Divisional at Walnut Ridge the next weekend, and the Nationals at the end of Sept.  Have fun, and stay safe.

For those who have sent base access forms in, I'll get to them shortly and send you a confirmation email.

For those who haven't send the form in yet, DO IT.

Re: Columbus Air Force Base, August 25-26

With less than 68 hours before they're due, we have a grand total of 17 people on the base access list (if you have sent me one, you should have received a confirmation email just now). I know of at least a dozen more people who plan on coming, so send your forms in.

Re: Columbus Air Force Base, August 25-26

Ryland Hemphill, can you take 5 minutes out of your busy sending-me-email-forwards schedule to send in your base access form?

For the rest of you nerds, if you haven't gotten a confirmation email from me, you're not on the list.

    DEADLINE IS NOON TOMORROW!

Ry is just scared of losing to me. Most people are. I won't think any less of him.

Re: Columbus Air Force Base, August 25-26

The fewer people... the less the competition. :)

Anyone want to share a room with me and monkeyboy? I am reserving the room today. Will have floor and possible bed space available.

Btw... Drew. I want to formally and respectfully request that I be in the OPPOSITE run group from you this go around... you alway take nice pics of the other rungroup so I never get any cool pictures of me. :( lol And I do believe that Monkeyboy will be co-driving the 20v this weekend if all goes well.

    Drew,

Any idea why the deal with the hotel isn't good anymore?

    Re: Motel room rate

I just talked to Cindy Putnam  - Comfort Inn manager.

According to her, the rate was increased to meet Comfort Inns corporate structure guidlines. She indicated the "auditors" found the too low rate and required it be increased. I know their "walk in" rate was increased to $75 + tax for some time, soo ----- I guess she had to CoverHerA.

The new rate for "sports car club" is $60 + tax. Total 65.40 for one to four adults per room --- breakfast included.

Ya'll might try hotels.com, expedia, etc.

    Re: Motel room rate

I updated the room rate on the web site. $65 ain't bad for a room.

    Re: Motel room rate

Nah $65 ain't bad really. I was just shocked that they changed it and not let anyone know. I am about to book our room. Anyone need a place to crash?

Judging by the extended forecast for this weekend, better pack a sweater; it'll be a brisk mid-90s August weekend.
