We return to scenic Grenada, Mississippi on July 28-29 for another lovely autocross event. This will be a typical Solo event (as opposed to Solo Trials), but a little birdie told me that the course promises to be fast and flowing.

The last time we were there and went to Jake and Rips, Ry wasn't there to buy drinks and Trey behaved himself. Coincidence? You decide.

Brian was trying to talk me into skipping this event and going up to the Toledo ProSolo with him. That guy needs a job and a girlfriend.

Who else is coming?

Ry: Is it possible to do a package conversion on a non-JCW Mini S to make it into a stock-legal (assuming this class change goes through) JCW? In other words, can you order all of the stuff to turn yours into a JCW?

The '07+ Mini would still be tough competition, for sure... I guess you could join the rest of us who don't have THE car for a certain class.

Yes, any "S" can be a JCW.  The 07 is fast.  You sorta seem to have THE CAR for stu.

Yeah, 200 horsepower to two wheels versus 300 horsepower to four wheels. No weight advantage for me (I've got a '99 with side airbags and all the heavy stuff) and I can only fit tires that are maybe a tenth of an inch wider than what the rally cars run.

Sounds to me like you have 100 hp per driven wheel. Rally cars only have 75 hp per wheel. Who really has the advantage?

 

On a more serious note, I believe your car has a much more favorable suspension geometry. (Could be wrong but all I really know is a subaru has piss poor suspension geometry).

I think change is great!  Ry goes to DS, they give STU a realistic PAX for 2008 and I can move back to Open tire in GS. Maybe Brian will blow up his car?

Or trick out my car and go to STS since the PAX in almost the same as GS?

They're very similar from what I know - both MacStrut front designs with similar camber/toe curves. The M3 has much better weight distribution, but that only takes it so far.

And while everybody thinks STU's PAX is soft, the results don't show it. I think a couple of hotshoes have cracked the top 20 in PAX at National Tour events, but as usual, the index is pretty accurate.

Does anybody remember a certain F Prepared driver who drove our cars in Grenada? If I remember correctly he was fastest in the Mini (by a couple of tenths), followed by the STi, followed by the M3. My car had fresh tires and Brian's was on blown shocks.

I coulda sworn that JT was faster in my car but only a tenth or so over yours and then rys was a few back.

Teddy, please run STS or GS in open tire. It would be nice to have some new competitionin open tire.
