    Thanks to the MS SCCA

Thanks for all for a GREAT event, my first "real" autox and first time to do anything with MS SCCA.  Especially Ronnie for the generous offering of his garage and time to fix my overheating issue Saturday night, to JT for the driving tips that shaved a solid 8 seconds off my time on Sunday (if I could have kept from coning/DNF the last run!), to Drew for talking me into coming down, loaning me his M3 on Saturday, and everything else, to Ben, and all the other guys who were just great to be around.

I thought that our BMW CCA chapter (Heart of Dixie) was full of cool people (and it is) but it doesn't begin to compare with the MS SCCA chapter.  I'm absolutely hooked, and will have to start making room in my schedule to come back more times this year.

Thanks again to the organizers for a great event, and I can't wait to be back next time and improve my driving skills.

Re: Thanks to the MS SCCA

miklm, I couldn't agree more.  I'd like to add a big thanks to Darryl, my instructor for teaching me what my Mustang GT could really do.  One of my friends was watching the school runs on Saturday and said the following:

"Not to say you're a bad driver or anything, but your first runs on Saturday were pretty slow.  Then Darryl jumped in your car, and I was like dang, he's fast! Then you got back in and drove again, and I was like whoa, now he's fast too!"

Thanks to JT for making time to come and teach the school and all the guys that helped put it on.  I am very glad I joined MSSCCA and look forward to competing again soon!

i have to agree as well.  i've been to 4 MSSCCA events now, and this one has been the most fun so far.  i came alone for the first time since i started autocrossing, so i really got a chance to meet and talk to some people.  got some great tips from JT.

sunday.. had a tough time first 3 runs.  finally got it turned around and made a decent showing.  i'm just glad i didn't take out the lights when i DNF'ed hitting the finish line cones.  considering the $168 ticket i got on the way there.. to have to purchase new timing lights for the club would have made this quite an expensive weekend. (:

Yes, that is a Hyundai. And yes, it is H-stock.

    Why do you ask?

I had a really great time as well.  I was able to record all of my runs along with John T's run in my car, and that is a great way to learn.  In the past, I could only look at my own runs, trying to figure out what went wrong and guessing on what I should have done.  But now, I am able to watch both videos at the same time and see the difference between his run and my best run frame by frame.  No text book can offer this type of clearity on applying the concepts.  Two big thumbs up for John T and all the instructors.  Since I'll be in somebody else's MR2 next event and won't have to worry about hurting my own baby,  there is no need to "take it easy" or "holding back" anymore.  So watch out, MSSCCA (and Kart77)!

What the heck is the "Cone Killer" doing in this picture?  Applying "go fast" juice?

I think its time for you to get some real tires and come over to the dark side.  When you do, call me and I'll give you my SECRET olive oil tire treatment.

Special thanks to Brian for teaching me how to drive "correctly" on the course at my first auto-x event. I managed to keep up with some pretty impressive cars in my v6 mustang and take 2nd in novice.  Thanks again to you and everyone who helped with the event.  I cannot wait until this summer when I can afford membership and also have my austin healey ready to go!
