    Autocross school registration is open

    Mississippi Region SCCA
    Autocross School and Points Event
    March 31 - April 1
    Grenada Municipal Airport, Grenada, MS

Click here to register for the school

The Mississippi Region is hosting its annual autocross school and points event on the weekend of March 31 - April 1.  The lead instructor for this event is Mr. John Thomas, a 13-time SCCA Solo National Champion.  The rough itenerary follows:

    • Saturday morning: Classroom session, tech inspection, etc.
    • Saturday afternoon: Lots of seat time!
    • Saturday night: Solo Safety Steward school (optional)
    • Sunday: Autocross points event

The fee for the Saturday event breaks down like so:

Pre-registration is not required for the Sunday autocross event.  The price for Sunday will be $25 for members, $30 for non-members.  As always, if you choose to join the SCCA at the Sunday event, that event's fee is waived.

For information on refunds or on submitting payment by mail, please contact Drew Boyles (dboyles@gmail.com).  Refunds will be given in the form of a voucher towards a future MS SCCA event.

NOTE: Instructors do not need to pre-register.  I think most would-be instructors know who they are.

Re: Autocross school registration is open

In case there is some confusion about the fees, here's how it breaks down for people who plan to attend both Saturday's autocross school and Sunday's autocross event:

    • Non-member, pre-registered for school: $65
    • Non-member,  day-of-event registration: $80
    • Member, pre-registered for school: $55
    • Member, day-of-event registration: $75
    • Non-member, pre-registered for school, joins SCCA at event: $117.50
    • Non-member, day-of-event registration, joins SCCA at event: $132.50

Note that all registration for Sunday's autocross will be done at the event.  Pre-registration is only for Saturday's school.

Re: Autocross school registration is open

One week remains before the registration deadline. Some additional event details have been added at msscca.org, but the most significant one is that the classroom session will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday.

Other event details off the top of my head:

    • Bring a chair (for the classroom session), sunscreen, water, and some cash with which to buy lunch.
    • Speaking of lunch, we'll take orders and have the deli up the road deliver. The lunch break will be short - you won't have time to run to town, so plan accordingly.
    • Get ready to drive, a lot.
Email me or somebody else if you have any questions about the event.

Pre-registration closes Wednesday (March 28), and as I write this there are 10 spots remaining.

I am totally new to this but definitely looks like something my son and I can enjoy together.

We would like to come Sat only but are wondering if we need to purchase a helmet or if any loaners are usually available for first timers.

    Thanks, Mike

Totally new is fine - my estimation is that this event equals about 6 regular events in terms of experience gained.

Loaner helmets are available, but are often in short supply (read: you'll end up sharing with someone).

Re: Autocross school registration is open

Sorry for the mix-up drew on the my auto events registration.

Thanks for addressing our (myself and amanda) concern with the paypal thing.  I know it was a pain dealing with everyone and we wanted to say thanks.

For some reason her paypal account came up and said error payment not sent, yet when we checked our account after paying again it said we sent 3 payments instead of only 2.

    Thanks for the help.
