^^^^ might be true.  I would give a friendly call to the Hankook Tire USA office, but Jeff Koehler (Motorsports Marketing Manager) is now working for Pirelli as of 4/18....oh well.  Keep on pluggin' I guess. Crying

Wow, thanks for the info!  I emailed Jeff at the beginning of last week for contingency decals for the Ft. Worth Tour.  Never heard back but assumed that they were in the mail.

I can mail you a set on Monday, PM or email me your address, I keep a good stock of them.  Also, I left some sets with the SCCA Tech boxes in San Diego, so there might be a few backup sets there as well....you might have to dig for them.

Here's a tip for anyone ordering from Frisby Tire/Race Tires Direct. If you order on a Friday, nothing will happen until Monday. I'm guessing it's because they are at track events on Fridays.

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??

I ran the set I bought for the first time this weekend.  Running the 275-35-18 C71 compound.  Here are my thoughts on them.

SCRUB THEM IN BEFORE USING!!!  No seriously, I didnt take the time to do it and yes they need it :).

I was told up the pressures with these tires, but I was running similar to the guys on hoosiers.  So I do not know that this is the case on them.  Of course I was chasing the tuning and dealing with a lot of lack of grip on the Bus Lot.  So I still do not feel quite comfortable with the settings.  That and I drove consistently worse every run on Sunday, so it did not help. :)

The tires have great grip.  It is very close to the Kumho and Hoosier.  I cant say its better though.  Its close enough to get you a trophy at Nationals though for sure *which I think is proven*.  If I get the air pressures situated on the car, and generally get the feel for it, then I will be good.  Ill see how I learn them through our divisional series as to what I do for Nationals.

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??

so what's the consensus on how the C71 compound compares for wear to the V710/A6 on limited camber FWD cars?  i know there was somebody running a set on an ITR in DS at the san diego tour, and i'm sure there have been others at local/regional events.  any/all feedback appreciated - i'd really like to run a 225/205 stagger, and only the z214's give me that option without getting spendy on the 25-30 run A6's (assuming the z214's wear well of course!)

cord started to show after 28 runs on the front of a DS Crossfire...that's more runs than the same size Hoosier, but fewer than the same size V710

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??

They wear the outside edge off worse than a Hoosier and failed to impress me in performance. I had hoped to use them regionally but they don't last on my car. 60 run Kuhmos will outlast a new set of Hankooks on a 350Z. Maybe the next harder compound wouldn't cord as quick.

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??

ouch, sounds like my hopes of A6-like grip and V710-like wear have been dashed :(

i agree, the c51 might wear better, but if you weren't impressed with the grip on the c71, i may as well just stick with the V710's

    thanks for the feedback guys!
