Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??
I'm seriously considering getting the 'Kooks for my Scion XA, partly because they seem to last longer & partly because they're available in the same overall diameter as stock so my speedo is correct in my daily driving...
Any
recommendations for 225 vs 205 width on a 15x7wheel?
since the XA is seriously underpowered, I want to get the most (although I don't honestly expect to win in this car...)

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??
duh. I confused the 214 with the 212.
However, I know a guy who drove his model A hotrod with slicks & open headers all the time...

Here's a 225 Hankook on a 15x7. Worked just fine...

nice, but the pic is of the Z212 (RS-2) street tire...... nonetheless, a 211, in a 225/50/15 fits nice and square on my 15x8 duralites.

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??
STS3gCivicSi:C71 has been around for a while, I have been racing on them since around May I think (foggy memory, 2007 was a looong year!). Construction improvement over the C70, zero compound changes. I am still trying to get my hands on a new set of Z211's that are being advertised as blowouts (whoa, bad term...."closeouts") and save them for a Rainy Day.
Where can I get the C71 Z214s? Thanks!

Try AIM Tire www.AIMtire.com in Sonoma, CA....they have been pretty good to me so far; the other place I had been getting them locally sadly went out of business.

I picked up a set from Frisby Race Tire last summer.

Storm:Frisby left me high and dry last year, so I went to thetireshoppe.com who helped me out tremendously.
+1 on the Tire Shoppe. I checked with both Aim and Frisby last season but they said that there weren't any C70s available in my size. The Tire Shoppe was able to drop ship me tires from the Hankook warehouse.

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??
I think that I was the only one on Hankooks at the Dixie Tour. I am running the 225-45-15 on my CS MR2-Spyder. They performed beautifully, I would say that they are right between both the A6 and V710 in grip (lateral/longitudinal), are much more precise than the 710 but not as knife-edge as the A6.
I had a lot of people come by and look at my tires in paddock and ask me about them. Plus I managed to get a 3rd place contigency from them, I am not disappointed.

Welcome to the Dark Side! I agree, you will not be disappointed. I am running that size as well on the HS car, will likely never go back to anything else! AIM Tire in Sonoma, CA has been shipping tires down to the San Diego area recently, they should have most sizes in-stock. There will be at least 3 drivers on the 'kooks at the SD Tour in a few weeks.

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??
Looks like there is a clearance on some Z214's... They are not the latest and greatest of their compound but still is pretty competitive for the buck. Here is a copy and paste from another forum: "These are C30 (Hard), C50 (medium) and C70(soft)
compounds from last year. These are being blown out to make room for
the new C51 and C71 compounds that are coming this year. Tires will be
drop shipped directly from Hankook. When they are gone they are
gone..no more to follow at these prices.
Was Now 205/55R14 Z214 C50 (medium) $147 $129 205/50R15 Z214 C30 (hard) $157Enduros $125 255/50R16 Z214 C50 (medium) $192 $132 255/50R16 Z214 C70 (soft) $192 $132 245/45R16 Z214 C70 (soft) $185 $159 275/40R17 Z214 C50 (medium) $213 $188 275/40R17 Z214 C70 (soft) $213 $146
These are available now. Quantities are limited. Order NOW !!! _________________ NASA NE, MW, GL and MA track support Hoosier/Toyo/Hankook/Goodyear/Amsoil Enkei Wheels 845-647-7407

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??
Frisby still has some Z211s for sale in C50 compound. I got a set of 4 285/30-18s shipped to my door for $156 each.

Re: Who's used the Hankook Z214??
In my search for the C71s, I called I think all of the companies mentioned in this thread. Most had very few in stock, and none carried my 275/35/18 in C71 compound. I ended getting a new local race shop to order it direct from the hankook warehouse, and they gave it to me at the 2007 C70 price. Thanks everyone! www.performancedrivenllc.com
