If you are planning on going or are even considering going to the Spokes/LSR
Southwest Divisional at TVTC please read this! This is very important
information about the site and other event details. A lot of this will also be
in the event Supplemental Regulations but I figured I'd get this out there early
for those still on the fence about attending. Thanks. Rick Martinez,
Divisional Chair
Bring shade. Umbrellas, EZ-Ups, whatever you got. The
logistics for the big tent just didn't work out this year but it's still going
to be hot so bring your own shade! After competition is over there's plenty of
covered lounging area under the awning near the TVTC building. This area is
where we will have the Friday and Saturday night get togethers (w/ food!)
Bring chairs. Folding camping chairs are the best. You'll
want them for the Friday and Saturday night socials while relaxing under the
awning.
Bring sunscreen. If you've been autocrossing long enough in
Texas you already know about this one. Don't forget it.
Wood blocks for jacks. The area where we will paddock is on
part of the TVTC road course. It's asphalt and in the middle of summer it can
get soft. Bring adequately sized wood blocks to place under your jack when
changing your tires to prevent damage to the asphalt.
Soft turf and mud. If you haven't noticed lately, we've had
an extraordinary amount of precipitation for this time of year. If you are
camping or parking your RV in the designated camping area near the frontage road
please be aware of the ground conditions. Please do not tear up the property.
Use your best judgment when parking.
Trucks and trailers. The paddock area may be kind of tight
so please try to relocate your unloaded trailers somewhere in the grass for the
weekend. Again, be aware of soft turf and/or mud. Do not tear up the
property.
TVTC facilities. The TVTC building and road course are off
limits for the duration of the event. Do not enter the building offices or the
garage area. Do not drive on the road course except for the designated paddock
area. The covered awning area is fine for hanging out but do not go inside
unless specifically invited by one of the TVTC employees. In general, please be
respectful of all TVTC property.
Food and beverages. Food and beverages will be served at
registration on Friday starting around 6:30pm and at the social on Saturday
starting around 5:00pm. Food is included in the cost of your entry. Tom Holt
will be handling grill master duties on Friday with a menu selection of the
finest backyard burgers in town. Saturday's festivities will be catered by
Louie Martinez and will consist of BBQ brisket, sausage, and chicken and all of
the fixin's you've come to love living in Texas.
Water and ice. John & Corky's Automotive Specialist (JC
Autospec) has graciously offered to provide water and ice for our Divisional!
Be sure to thank them by visiting their shop in Round Rock for all of your
automotive service needs. Dan drives a Mini so if you are headed toward the
event site and are not sure what to bring, forget the obligatory bottle of wine
and bring us extra ice! It's cheaper than wine and you can never have too much
ice on a hot summer day!
Raffle. Our hosts, Cooper Tire and Vehicle Test Center,
have donated a set of Cooper tires (passenger car or light truck) for our
Divisional. We will be raffling off these tires during the Saturday night
social. Keep those tickets!
Practice runs. Lance Adams (Chief of Course Design) will be
running a practice course on the main autocross pad from 1:00pm to 3:30pm on Friday. Runs
will be timed and those practicing will be responsible for picking up their own
down cones. Contact Lance for more info.
Runs. We'll be doing 4 competition runs per day instead of
the usual 3. Divisional format so fastest time on Saturday will be added to
fastest time on Sunday for your total time.
Numbers. Magnetic or static cling numbers are recommended
but not required. Numbers should be large and legible regardless of the
material. No shoe polish. If you are single driver you must use a number
between 1 and 99. If you are running a two driver car then the first driver
must run 1-99 and the second driver must run 101-199. For example if the first
driver is 62 then the second driver of the car must be 162. This is old hat for
the veterans but some of the new folks may not be aware of these rules.
PAX Showdown. Rules for the PAX Showdown have been modified
slightly to make it more fun for everyone. At the end of competition runs on
Saturday the top three finishers in PAX will automatically be entered into the
PAX Showdown. In addition to these three finishers, we will randomly pick three
more drivers using the raffle tickets handed out at registration. These three
random drivers will also be entered into the PAX Showdown. Each of these six
competitors will be given one bonus run in their own car. The bonus run times
will be compared to the competitor's fastest run during competition. The
Showdown driver that improves the most over their fastest competition run will
be declared the winner. If one of the bonus entrants coned all runs during the
day then their bonus run time will be compared to their fastest raw time of the
day. Anything can happen!
