E30 Racer: I have them in my possession. Compared to a 275/40R17 BFG g-Force TA they are about 3/4" narrower. Measurement of the *total* tire width, unmounted, is about 260 mm. They are virtually identical in width to my 255/40R17 Dunlop SP9000s (mounted on 17x9s).
Not sure I understand the importance of total tire width for a race tire. I could see wanting a bit more sidewall for impact protection & ride confort on the street or rough road race courses. However, for autocross tires, I'd just as soon have a section width as narrow as possible, for a given tread width - all the better to stuff as much tire as possible under smaller cars.
It would be interesting to compare the measured tread width of the BFG & Hoosier. Based on the manufacturer's own published numbers, the BFG's have a tread width of 9.5" and the Hoosiers have a tread width of 10.1". The Hoosier numbers are definitely a bit conservative, but I have no idea how accurate BFG's numbers are.
