I have them in my possession.  Compared to a 275/40R17 BFG g-Force TA they are about 3/4" narrower.  Measurement of the *total* tire width, unmounted, is about 260 mm.  They are virtually identical in width to my 255/40R17 Dunlop SP9000s (mounted on 17x9s).

Not sure I understand the importance of total tire width for a race tire. I could see wanting a bit more sidewall for impact protection & ride confort on the street or rough road race courses.  However, for autocross tires, I'd just as soon have a section width as narrow as possible, for a given tread width - all the better to stuff as much tire as possible under smaller cars.

It would be interesting to compare the measured tread width of the BFG & Hoosier.  Based on the manufacturer's own published numbers, the BFG's have a tread width of 9.5" and the Hoosiers have a tread width of 10.1".   The Hoosier numbers are definitely a bit conservative, but I have no idea how accurate BFG's numbers are.

From the pics it looks like you could run 10.5 or 11" wheels and get a little more contact patch. Kinda like running the 225s on an 8.5 or 9. Dos it look that way in person?

Possibly, although the tires look just about perfect on a 10" wide wheel.  If cost were no object, I'd probably test with some 10.5" wheels, just to see if the difference was measureable.

For me,10" is the perfect width, as it's also the recommended width for the radial slicks I'll run if the 275's don't meet expectations.

My 15" x 10" Bogart wheels just showed up. The digital scales says they weigh 14.2 lbs each.

285/30/18 KUMHO V710 on 18x9.5" rim (i have another set on 18x10s, they are identical)

    versus

275/35/18 HOOSIER A6 UNMOUTED (thanks Pat)

I swear the 275s are wider!

Theoritical contact patch should go down about 13% compared to the 285 on the 18" wheel. but thats just that - theory.

I would think that between those two, the one that gives the best gearing would be the fastest.  OTOH I am a noob so take my comments with a grain of salt.

I have two events next weekend.  My wheels are scheduled to arrive today.  I am curious about your wear observations.  So they need more or less camber?  What wear indicators are you seeing?

i put 17 runs on a abrasive asphalt lot and i am well past the wear indicators. i am guessing 40 runs will be around max for the tire on my car (fwd civic). i will answer your camber question wednesday, as i will be re-aligning wed night. till then enjoy pics of "275 man"...

If ever there were a caption contest in the making that picture has to be it.   Thanks for the update.  I was budgeting 50 runs on the tires.  I know my Miata will consume them at a different rate than your civic, hopefully its a slower rate.

i would imagine your fronts would wear less compared to your rears. how much hp? my fronts do get a lot of a abuse, even 710's wore quickly

    Re: 10" wide 15" Hoosier

The rears do wear a little faster but not considerably.  I guess that means I need more HPSurprise.  I manage to heat cycle out 710s just a little before I wear the grooves completely off.
