Pfft.  Neither of you can match my fuel/oil/tire combo.

haha. You're not wrong! The fasteners that come off are entertaining as well.

Finally got the leak down test done. The good news? 1 and 4 have only 1-2% leakdown. The bad news? 2 and 3 have from 10 to 12.5% leak down. Sad That can't be good. Trying some different oil to see if that will resolve the oil burn off issue so I'll have money to freshen it up with when I finally get some time to do it.

Spy vs. Spy? A secret weapon is it?  No secret weapons here. Though if Chang doesn't mind getting oil on his hands I might be able to find 5-8hp Friday night and get rid of this weird rpm dependent ticking...

Even 10 - 12.5% leak isnt that bad.  Optimal, obviously not, but not likely causing much of a drop in power.  That said, it could be contributing to your oil consumption for sure.  As someone mentioned earlier, are you running anything other than the OE crankcase ventilation system?  Putting a catch can on the car could tell you alot about whether the oil is getting by the valveseals or not.  The fact that you are getting bad smoke under engine braking does lead me to believe that it is blow-by though, and leaking valves would exacerbate that condition.  You may just need new valves and seats and then would be fine.  One other thing I have found on most Hondas is the breather ports on the valve cover are usually too small, creating high velocity at the port and dragging oil into the PCV and breather lines.  I have a friend of mine that welded 4 -12 AN fittings on his valve cover and routed them all to a big catch can. This enabled him to vastly reduce crankcase pressure without consuming much(if any) oil.

Meh, obviously I'd like to be a bit closer to Alex and Mike then I was. Alex was absolutely on fire this weekend while Mike and Chris continue to futz with the car. We were hoping to only be .5 off on both days, but fell short of that goal. Some of it was car, some of it was driver. The good news is that the different oil has reduced how quickly we burn through it, only going through 1/4qrt for the entire weekend, including driving to and from the event site.

Yes. One question though, does the SM oil cause clutches to @sspl0d3? Stick out tongue

Welp, got it dyno'd today. Anybody want to make a guess before I publish the numbers? As a little hint, best power was made with full ignition advance on 93 octane fuel. That's how much the oil was affecting things. Turns out, oil has a really slow burn rate and a really low octane rating! I wouldn't suggest it as a good way to avoid knock though! Dynojet dyno btw....

    42.

You decide whether that's HP or TQ or both.

    lol. 130tq? I wish!

PJ was the closest. Best pull was 165hp/117tq. Worst pull was 163/116. With timing set to 18* BTDC, it dropped to 159/112. The residents of Fall River can thank me for the misquito massacre. I honestly think the smoking is getting worse after every autocross. Haven't decided exactly what I want to do with the engine. Something is going to get done, just haven't decided what yet.

Wow Nate.  That sucks.  My Celica for my stock pull prior to STS mods put down 163/119.  Being down 30 whp and 15-20 lb/ft of torque explains a lot.  Hopefully the rebuild isn't too bad.  - AB
