Andy Hollis:
If you feel you carry Bo Jackson's level of musculature, who am I to argue with that perception?
Come on Andy, I wasn't comparing myself to Bo Jackson, I was pointing out that the BMI charts can easily be disproven. I agree with Ed (thanks Ed) on the BMI estimates. Several years ago a coming business venture required I have quite a large life insurance policy. The underwriter required that I have a full physical exam. The physician that did the exam used a couple of different methods of figuring my BMI. At the time I weighed about 220 lbs and had a 32 inch waist. The physician commented that I was in excellent shape but my BMI listed me at the low end of obese. He wrote almost a paragraph on the report to regarding this issue after which we discussed the issue. He said the insurance company would assume I was obese and my rates would be adjusted accordingly. He said the notes he made on the report may help in that regard.
Two years ago I decided to loose the weight I had gained in the previous two years. Through excercise and diet, I quickly dropped 25 lbs. As I continued my routine, I actually began to gain weight all the while loosing inches off my waist. I would still like to drop another 20 lbs or two inches off my waist. I typically gain about 5 to 10 lbs over the winter because of the reduced activity (no course walking?) and my love of good Italian food. It doesn't help that St. Augustine has a number of excellent Italian restaurants. Terrie's cooking doesn't help either.
By the way Andy, I owe you an appology for Saturday morning. You happened to catch me at a particularly inopportune moment. I didn't get the chance to catch you later in the weekend.
