We need event chairs and solo safety steward volunteers.

It is that time, again.  I need to get the sanction applications in soon for the March events.  Will someone, please, step up and be the event chair for the EVO school?  Andy has been both the chair and an instructor for the past couple of years.  Even though this is probably the easiest event of the year to chair, it is a big job to chair and instruct.  I know Andy will give anyone who volunteers plenty of advice.  I will be the SSS.

Bryan will chair the novice school as usual and I will be the SSS for that as well.

We need a chair and an SSS for Event 1, and a chair for Event 2.  Rick Ruth will be the SSS for Event 2.

It is not too early to volunteer for the April 15th event, or any of the others.

Posted the photo of the cricket because nobody had replied to Lynn's post.

No event chairs or SSS, no events.

If it helps we can probably arrange a directors chair and megaphone, or, depending on the personality, a throne (although it might end up being porcelain).

However the beah chair is probably the most appropriate as the job mostly requires making sure that those who do jobs (course, timing, grid, gate, etc.) plan to be at the event to do them. Event Chair is not a hard job.

    Lynn,

I will be the event chair for the Evo school. At this point I have everything taken care of.

Oh, I know - I was just doin' a little "chain-yanking" then runnin' the big dog out to his stop..........

Seriously tho - I'd volunteer to help out a few; but time/distance is a bit of a hassle from here. I think I also may have a full-plate before the middle of the Season with my own region. I don't know if it's "allowed" with someone from another Region, either.

    Lynn,

If I come hang out with you at Evo school one day, does that count as my apprenticeship for SSS?  I need to find the paperwork and mail it in.  Have no idea where the heck it is or if I even still have it.  I could SSS once and maybe chair one later in the year once Nally is good and comfy and good and fast in the Carroll-mobile.  Lemme know.

Yea, I don't have much room to taunt either these days. Looking over the schedule and overlaying the other stuff on my plate with family, my son's Venture crew and prep rides for the MS 150, I run out of weekend real fast. Still we should have enough people to chair event without you and me  : ).

Kyle, yes that will count and I appreciate the help.

We still need a Solo Safety Steward for Event 1.  We have volunteers for everything else in March.

OK, Lynn.  I'll see you at the Saturday Evo event.  I am racing on the Sunday of the Challenge School.  I'll see if I can find the paperwork and, if not, hopefully Jan can get me a new form.  At least I'll have the internship out of the way.

Is the procedure below still what is valid for becoming a SSS? I am still new to the group, but I would be interested in attending a class, since it seems it takes a little while to get everything complete.

Procedures for Becoming a Solo Safety Steward
    • Complete application (from DSSS or http://www.scca.com, SCCA Interactive, Forms/Applications, Solo I and Solo II, Solo Safety Steward License Application); return to DSSS. (V)
    • Attend seminar (classroom instruction) given by a SSS Instructor. (VI, VIII C.2)
    • Obtain practical instruction at two events as a trainee under a licensed SSS. (VIV C)
    • Obtain recommendation, attached to application, from SEB Member, Director, Regional Executive, or Divisional Solo Steward. (V)
    • Obtain approval from DSSS, who will advise Central Licensing to issue a license. (V)
    • Renew annually with renewal application indicating at least two events worked; renewal date is the same as membership renewal date (V C; VIII D).

All is correct except the renewal part.  You must attend a class as a continuing education every 3 years
