Any locals want to comment on camping in the area?

I see Pawnee Lake State Recreation Area about 4 miles west of the site, is that a decent place?

Not a local and like always, call/email the National office to get the full details, but my understanding was that there will be a Solo City setup very close to the entrance of the site.  Howard had two areas in mind, both sounded pretty good.

Wonder how those dates coincide with the 'Huskers home games for next year re: hotel rooms?  Huh?

The hotel room did cost $20 more to stay Friday the 11th, presumably because of the football game.  But the total bill for the 5 nights was still very reasonable.

There is a home game on the 5th and on the 12th

How big is that place? Nebraska Region laid out the "large" course from 1999 Nationals (I think that was correct). An Evo instructor was there and "complained" that it was hard to pick up the course because it was so spread out !!!!!

It had to be Tim Herron.  You know the curvature of the earth really effects him after about 100'.  We'll have to get him a set of elevator shoes for Nationals.Stick out tongue

    Quit pickin' on Timmy. Smile

I must've stepped in the "Sarah" thread because there is a quote out of context here. Surprise I did have trouble finding the course when I got there at 7:30 a.m. Being the 3rd person on site, I could hear the safety car on course but couldn't see it till it was maybe 20' away because of the thick fog. Also, trying to walk the course in those conditions and the region being a bit short of cones for such a long course, it was tough to find the first walk or two since I didn't run Nationals in '99.

I'm all for drinking beer in the shower, but campfires?

Isn't it hard to keep them lit?  Don't you worry about sparks?

So the official announcement is now listed on the SCCA site but when you click the link it goes to an empty Pro-Racing article. Its amazing to me that after several years of criticism, the SCCA site is still so hard to navigate, bandwidth intensive and buggy. I guess we can call it Web 0.2 compliant.

That announcement sounded alot like a 'I'm just gonna pull up my pants and go home' or ' I'm just gonna take my ball and leave' tantrum ........... Good bye HPT and Ray Irwin......it wasn't nice knowin' ya........I skipped SOLO Nationals this year for really no other reason than it being at HPT again.  First Nationals I have missed since 1999 (my first)..........

Does the Solo City mean there is no camping in your paddock space?
