maybe I should run SM.  With Vic running in the ladies class I might have a shot.  haha

Hey now guys.. lets not count out changing conditions here. It could start to rain right after Marshall's first run.

I don't know Aaron...   You might be too young for the rain at Buttonwillow when Tom went out in a Focus slushbox rental car and spanked all.

Might have been the greatest lap I've ever seen.

I wouldn't let one guy / car scare me off.  The question I have is, how much to turn an STU car into a BSP car?  I don't think you can compare the STU build cost to a BSP build.

Aftermarket clutch, a retune for high boost, spring swap/damper revalve, tires. It's actually pretty damn close and i'm pretty familiar with both cars at this point. I'd say for 3 grand or so Rick Jung could probably swap his car from STU to BSP and be reasonably close to the Berry Evo.

There are some other things you can do, but an STU evo would be reasonably competative whith those changes.

Except it would require a full motor swap since you can't just U/D to the bigger turbo. But yes it wouldn't too hard if you started w/a IX.

I was considering BSP for the few minutes between Rita's car being sold and Jason's S2K paxing #1, then Tom buying Tak's car made the decision easy. :)

The problem is Lee, ASP doesn't want them there either! At a Pro, they could dominate that class too, same as the WRXs dominate STX over the FWD cars.

Devil  ok so I'm stirring the pot.

Its obvious that BSP is doomed on this path.  One C3 corvette, one underprepared STi, one underprepared mazdaspeed miata, one underprepared 350Z and one not-quite-ready-to-stay-together S2k in a mix of a total of fifteen contestants (Open + Ladies class).  the 350Z was a surprise and could have used more prep too.  Who knows what the S2K would have done if it had stayed together,  but it didn't.

But the C4s and Beemers seem to stand united in not participating.  Another year like this and there won't be a BSP class for anyone to run in.

This could be settled quite qickly.  Lee just needs to buy my Evo RS and finish prepping it for BSP then join the fray.Stick out tongue

Re: BSP NEEDS TO BE FIXED! SEND A LETTER!

I'm starting to get tired of all the crying by the non-evo owners/people.

Everyone should take a look at the AS results from Heat 5 Tues/Wed and compare them to BSP which ran in Heat 4 Tues/Wed.  Take a look at the times those S2k's were laying down.  Now add more rubber/susp/hp and tell me where they would have been.

Another note, Lee still takes out his M3 locally on occasion and that thing is not exactly slow.  The S2K and M3 do stand a chance, IMO.

One thing I'm sure some of you will point out is the innequality that arises should it get cold/wet/ProSolo, I do agree that the awd has a distinct advantage then.

Who's crying?  I don't see any crying.  Just a bunch of people noticing BSP dying a slow death.

Maybe more 350Z, S2000 and Mazdaspeed Miata owners will step up and start prepping cars fully, but it hasn't happened so far.  Not in numbers to sustain the class.

The Evo and STi are both competitive in BSP, STU and SM.  I suspect that fact is helping thin the ranks of potential BSP builds for these cars.  Meanwhile, the old guard M3/Corvette owners have no interest in showing up (especially to HPT) because of the perceived disadvantage.

The facts are the facts.  BSP has made increasingly sh1tty numbers for the past three years.

I heard something about Lee being forbidden from building an AWD turbo car for the class, and anyway, I broke the car so it won't be out for the near future unless he gets off his butt and starts fixing it.  But he seems to be having a lot of fun with that Shelby so I don't see it happening soon.  :(

That's what I figured would happen.

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink"

The vast majority of drivers aren't complaining, they're just not showing up.

Me, I'm going into SM2, but even that may go away even though it just started.

    Pretty sad.

Re: BSP NEEDS TO BE FIXED! SEND A LETTER!

BSP is doing pretty well in the NE.  We don't have alot of diversity, but there are decent numbers.  There were 10 drivers for the Devens tour and 5 for the dc pro (would have been 7 if my car didn't break).  Locally, in NNJR at least, there are decent numbers too.  Perhaps the numbers for Nationals don't really reflect whats going on locally in some areas.

I guess from my standpoint it's frustrating to be in a class that is a constant point of contraversy/degradation when you are committed to running there.  I def agree about cars being built for SM & STU, with STU being the major draw.  STU was huge this year.  Cheaper to build, cheaper tires, less chance of breaking stuff, hell I'd build an STU evo IX if I were to start now.

From speaking with Lee in Topeka he doesn't seem likely to bring the M3 back out unless we move to concrete or ultra grippy asphalt.  He also seems amped about his new Shelby.

Personally I am hoping to see more cars built for the class.  Peter Umino's 350Z was pretty quick in Topeka and doesn't have alot of development time in it and we have a local Mazdaspeed Miata that is getting faster.  Said Miata owner would also have been in Topeka if he had not blown the motor weeks before the event.

Re: BSP NEEDS TO BE FIXED! SEND A LETTER!

I was hoping for a better showing at Nationals...the car easily had another 1.5s+ in it combined as is (I slowed it down by 1s [compared to my 1st run] on the east course to ensure a clean run...).  I wish I had the $$ to further develop the Z to see really how competitive it could be...add another degree of negative camber up front, further refine the suspension settings, weight reduction, and most importantly - working on the Driver!!

*I greatly enjoyed the week and loved being able to see just how fast BSP cars should be...

Even as I think of the future, I would love to say that I'll be back in BSP driving a 350Z to try again (when $$ isn't so tight)...but the idea of dumping a good amount of $$ and time into developing a car for BSP, and having the class appear to be instable on a national level is risky - I'd rather spend that $$/Time into a car/class that I know will be around for several years.

The 1 good thing about a smaller class was being able to meet and talk with just about all of the BSP drivers - it's great fun to hang out with your competitors and really wish them to have great runs, while still wanting to beat their times - I love that aspect with Solo.

Great opportunity to help B/SP with the Solstice GXP and Sky Redline but we are still in A/SP. My guess would be there would be some serious expansion if the change was made.

    Bob,

The proposal for member comment for doing just that was in the June or July Fastrack.  I realize you are not one for letting a fact get in the way of a good "SCCA is Stupid, Bob is Perfect" rant, but this is the SECOND time I have told you this....

You really need to get that "filter" inspected. STILL doesn't work. I said GXP AND Redline.

It was referring to the condition of B/SP, not ME. There were FIFTEEN entrants. How is THAT good?

The GXP/Redline is still in A/SP. Fact.

I did not refer to ANYBODY or ANYTHING as being stupid.

I am speaking to a shrinking class and you are speaking to throwing me under a bus.

I am focused on B/SP and you are sadly focused on me.

How is a two sentence post a rant?

Sad on so many levels. A Dr. Phil moment for sure. Let's just talk about B/SP. I was.

Re: BSP NEEDS TO BE FIXED! SEND A LETTER!

    Bob,

I truly don't understand your post.  You keep posting that the Skystice GXP/Redline is STILL in ASP.  Well, duh,  It certainly is in 2008.

There was a proposal in the June 08 Fastrack to move it to BSP.  There has not been a withdrawing or change to the proposal, so one could be pretty safe to think that it will go through.

My point was that the change your recommend is already in progress for 2009.  I don't know why you act otherwise, hence my comment...
