Stan Czacki picked up another 2009 win from the SSB pole at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit near Tulsa, OK yesterday. Running within a second of the SSB record during the race, Stan held off an early threat from a new Nissan Sentra Spec V driven by Rob Jones of Marshfield, Missouri. As tires were taxed in the extreme heat and humidity, Stan was able to open up a substantial lead by the end, despite the recent allowance of removal of 100 pounds from the Spec V by SCCA's CRB. The extreme heat conditions were more favorable for the rear wheel drive Camaro than the front wheel drive competition.
This win does not guarantee the SoPac Div championship for Stan, but keeps him in the lead for the time being; it also should put him in the lead of the Super Sweep National point rankings in SSB. With three out of Division wins and the SoPac season over, Stan can only wait for results from across the country to come in as the competion logs their three allowed out of Div. races (most drivers have two OofD races at present and the national season ends Labor Day weekend allowing three weeks to prep and get to the Runoffs).
Stan states it would have been better to run his last OofD race at Road America to learn the track for the Runoffs, but the tow to Tulsa was less than half of that to Wisconsin......and only a hundred miles more than to HPR, at 750mi. The Hallett track, another of the USA's picturesque venues built in the rolling Oklahoma hills, has theoretically similar corners to some of those at RA...... Now we can take a break to deliver a substantial parts sale to Seattle and hopefully have a fresh engine to install for the Runoffs when we return in late July.
