Why I haven't been autocrossing this season...

No, Rachel and I aren't expecting. Stick out tongue Here's why....

Could be everything from a bent valve(s), tensioner loose, loose spark plug, all the way to rod bearing going out. I didn't want to run it last Sunday because if it is the latter, I didn't want it to go kaboom. What do you guys think?

    Does it have a miss?

Doesn't really sound like a loose spark plug, but it could be.

Compression test will tell you about the valve.

Removing the drive belt will tell about the tensioner (assuming you aren't referring to the cam belt tensioner, kinda hard to remove that and still start the engine)

Your oil pressure would be dropping with a bad rod bearing, I'd think.

    It's broken...........................................................

Sounds ominous for sure. As BD stated start with the simple stuff first. A compression check could be revealing!

    Nerd moment:

Redo video - put car at constant RPM - take video. Count how many times you hear the noise in a certain amount of time. Interpolate back to bottom end or top end

A valve would be opening 1 time for every 2 piston strokes right?

Or I could be way off - its bedtime...

You can also take something like a dowel rod and use it like a stethoscope to listen for where the problem is coming from. Hold one end in your hand and press against your ear, place the other end in various locations on the engine and you might be able to tell where you are closest to the noise and thus what is going out. I've used that trick before for chasing idler pulley bearings, etc.

That dose not sound good at all from the video its hard to really tell what it is. I would either do what Bill said and listen to where the sound is really coming from to pin point the issue. Oh and a screw driver would work as well.

Re: Why I haven't been autocrossing this season...

Humorous suggestion: apply the parking brake, with the car in neutral, hold the accelerator down until the loud noise goes away.  It was your engine-remove and replace.

Serious help: the place where I got my replacement engine for my Integra GSR is www.justjapsimports.com.  The low mileage B18C1 was $1,500 with $130 for shipping from Miami, FL.  I should have done it right when I bought the car instead of doing all the work on the head and replacing the rings.

Good luck, hope it's something simple.
