Photos from 3/29 autocross
Hey everyone. Just thought some of you might like to see a few of the pictures from this past weekend's event. Sorry if I was in your run group and didn't get any pictures of your car. Copy/Paste the following link http://www.flickr.com/photos/36972695@N04/

Re: Photos from 3/29 autocross
Thanks, Chris. I was a little disappointed in them, but there were a few keepers in there. I hope to get a proper lens sometime soon so I can get you guys some real shots. And yeah, frankenberry's mustang is very photogenic. Thanks again for the complements!

Re: Photos from 3/29 autocross
I agree with chris, preston, those look great! Hope you didnt mind, but I borrowed a couple to post on my mustang sites. Hopefully I can get shannon to get me a copy of all the stuff he took that weekend too. Thanks for taking some pics of one of the oldest cars of the bunch too!
Just trying to get some Seat Time! 86 Mustang GT - maybe one day it will be fast!

No problem at all. You guys can use the photos for whatever you'd like. I have some better ones of your car from columbus, michael. Did you ever see any of those?

It's the Screamin' Yellow. You can spot it from the moon.
What kind of camera/lens were you using, Preston?

Those were all shot with a d50 and a fixed 50mm. It's fun to shoot with, but I have to get as close as possible to the cars if I want good shots with it.

Well damn, I wished I had known you were taking pictures...I had my d60 w/ 18-55mm & 55-200mm lenses in Becker's car...You could have borrowed one or both lenses for the day...Oh well, bring your camera to the next event and I will let you use the lenses if you wish to take pictures again...

Re: Photos from 3/29 autocross
dammit, one of these days I'll have a pimp ass camera to play with... Hey, would you mind if i shot a few pics with yours next time, Rotenberry? I need some experience with a nice camera before I buy one, as well as maybe some lessons from someone who has used one more than me

That would be awesome! The 55-200 is exactly what I needed this past weekend. We'll have to make sure I get put in a separate run group at the next event and I'll get you some shots with your lens.

Re: Photos from 3/29 autocross
Preston, you need the Sigma 70-200/2.8. I've had it and I've had the Nikon version with VR, and the Sigma is 90% as good optically. I bet they've even got their "OS" version of image stabilization on a model now, but you can do without it. It's a very nice range for shooting autocross, and it's about half as much as the Nikon version. Variable aperture sucks! I'm also a big fan of the D2h body, not just for the 8 fps, but also for the handling that the pro bodies offer. I wonder how much those go for these days...

That one's been on my list for a while now, actually (I seriously need something with some range.) It's just a matter of not buying other things first! And variable aperture is DEFINITELY not something I'm keen on using, but I guess it comes with the territory of less expensive lenses. The D2h has significantly dropped in price since the D3 and D300 released, though. You should pick one up and let me borrow it sometime!

Re: Photos from 3/29 autocross
Have you met Haison (drives the Lexus IS in D Stock)? He came out to a Columbus event last year and asked if he could take pictures. I said sure, and asked him what kind of equipment he had. He was sporting a D3 with a 300/2.8 and a D300 with a 70-200/2.8 VR. This was not long at all after the D3 came out. He even let me shoot some pictures at the event... just handed it over to me while he drove. Here's one he got of me:

Re: Photos from 3/29 autocross
Yeah, that was my very first event and I was at the station with him. A d3 and d300 around his neck at the same time with awesome glass on each. Needless to say, I was drooling.
