    San Diego Tour PAX/RTP Results

Attached is a PDF of the Final PAX/RTP Index results from the San Diego National Tour.  I will post Saturday Only and Sunday Only results in subsequent posts.

On Saturday, after the first run group (SS, BS, CSL, GS, HS, STSL, STUL, ASP, XPL, CPL, DP, BM, FJB, FSAEL, Index 1) that made the course a little bit faster (about .25 sseconds).  The change was necessary because of a pavement breakup.  After the 3rd run group the finish area was changed a lot, making it about .5 to .9 seconds faster.  So the 4th and 5th run groups (CS, STL, STS, STU, DSPL, XP, CP, EPL, SML, SSML, DML, EML, FJA, FSAE and AS, DSL, ES, FSL, STXL, BSP, CSP, ESPL, FSP, FP, GPL, SMFL, AML, CM, FML, F125L, Index 2, Index 3) had it a bit easier.

For Sunday, the 1st run group had total dry, while 2nd run group had a mix.  3rd run group had total wet.  4th group had no rain and the course dried quickly, most had a dry last run.  5th run group had great conditions.

Ultimately, unfortunately, these results are only partially useful.

Thanks, Jeff, for the conditions report.

    Rick Ruth

Anyone know what size tires the #1 and #2 PAX CSP Miatas were running?

I'm betting on section width of at least 275

275/35/15 Hoosiers would be my semi-educated guess.

Bill was on the 275's.  I didn't get close enough to George's car.

    George also runs the 275-15's.

Interesting that the street tire index class 2 winner ('08 TT) was only .5 off from the DS winner! He'd have placed third in DS!

DS was running in the wettest conditions of the day. Most every other group got at least one dry or mostly dry run.

^True enough...those of us in RG3 were the only ones with totally wet conditions on all runs, Sunday. Also, the course changes on Saturday (really the one after RG3, which most felt was about a second reduction, on average) make it very difficult to get any real information from the PAX'ed results.

btw, congrats to Christine for winning the SCCA Performer award at the event. Smile

    Thanks Mike!

I was a radio out on course during RG3 at the tour.  (I had to hotbox my shoes in a car with the heater on to get them dry before my runs)  But the rain did make for some very interesting watching, and I was close enough (station 5) to hear the announcer say that you were on Hoosier drys for that last run, very impressive car control!

Thanks, Christine. I didn't really have any choice but to throw the A6's on the car, as the Hoosier Wets Isley was nice enough to let me borrow were, unfortunately, about 5 years past their "sold by" expiration date and were really, really (really) bad...that whole experience was both interesting and educational Indifferent
