    Opposition Letter to SSB/SSC & SSB/T3 Mergers

Here's a first pass at a short and sweet letter.  Who do I send it too?  One caveat...I oppose any mergers of the SS/T classes as these cars are the most similair to street cars.  Given that similarity, it is my opinion that the SS/T cars have the ability to generate the most interest from new members, sponsors, and the factories.  BUT, if you are going to FORCE us into consolidation, here is my opinion.  I hope the T guys don't go to hard on me but it is what it is.

     ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I understand the need for class consolidation but I don't understand why SSB (or SSC for that matter) is/are being singled out.  Afterall, SSB is the best performing class of all of the SS/T classes and SSC is second so, why would we merge the two?  They also have the best contingency of any of the classes which is a definite plus.  As an alternative, I would propose merging classes that are laggards in participation.

If we must affect the SS/T classes I would think a T3/T2 merger would be a better deal long term or even T1/T2.  The participation numbers show this.

Time and time again, the SSB and SSC racers who currently participate have resisted the move from SS to T (T4/T5) so, why continue to force the issue?  SS has a long history in the club and it has the best chance to prosper in the current environment.  It should be preserved and refined not combined.

None of the decisions the club is about to make will be easy in the short term and they'll set the course for years to come so, each change must be made VERY carefully.  There's a good chance to run many of us off, myself included.  I love SCCA Club Racing but I simply cannot afford the uncertainty that the club continues to generate.
