    Helmets

Since I'm getting back into the sport, I needed a new helmet, since my old one is old, ratty, and an M95-rated one.  So I just got a shiny new HJC CL-31.  The specs on their website only say "Snell/DOT" and on the helmet itself is a sticker saying the same.  In the owner's manual it says "Snell 2005 and DOT Motorcycle."  I know the Solo II Rules say SA, K or M... I'm guessing mine is M?  Hope so... otherwise it'll be going back.

     Anybody know for sure?

    Thanks!

Look under the lining inside the helmet. If it truly is a Snell 2005 helmet, it will have the Snell sticker inside the helmet, which will tell you it is either 2005M or 2005SA.

I looked there... I remember my old one had one in there.  Nothing.

Crap... anybody know of any HJC-brand open face helmets that are legal?

    Re: Helmets

HJC CL-31 and CL/CS-5 Open Face helmets are Snell M2005 Rated.  The new CL-5N is NOT rated, so be careful if you are shopping at a motorcycle shop, they may not know that.  TZhe Snell Rated CL-CS-5 is going away, the importer is already running out of them in popular colors.

As Rob found out, the Snell stickers can really be buried under the padding, but in 8 years of selling HJC, there has been ONE HJC helmet with a missing sticker.   Not a bad ratio considering the number of helmets we sell...:)
