    Holy Wetness Batman

Will it ever quit raining in Georgia? Inquiring minds want to know!

We've had some issues today with the Z06.....

Considering that they are in the middle of one of the worst droughts they have ever had, I doubt the locals are complaining.  Look on the bright side.  It's not frozen rain.

Ouch, sorry to hear about your luck.  At least the car's driveable now, I guess.

I guess it's good I didn't make the trip down with all the rain...but then again, that sounds better than the frozen crap we're getting up here. Angry

Yeah, I haven't seen rain like this since the Atlanta Pro a few years back, or Devens Tour many many years back.  Charlotte is in an awful drought too, so I can understand why the locals are probably thrilled.  All in all, everyone here is taking it in stride, considering it should clear up today.  Fingers crossed ;)

It was good seeing all the familiar faces.  It sucks that Chris makes the trip to break a shock.  Seems that is going around.  Jason Ruggles had a Koni SA dump most of it's fluid on the practice course earlier yesterday.  :(  - AB

Awful luck.  From your description, the previous owner of my RX8 had the same Koni problem at Nats last year.  They are being serviced at Koni NA right now (but having them converted to DA in the process).  Talking to the contact at Koni, he said it's a $3 part that failed/broke.  Unfortunately, no warranty on competition-valved units :( .  I went two years with Koni DAs on my CS miata without a hint of a problem.  Maybe 600lbs less mass had something to do with that.  I'll be bringing spares this year too.

Good luck with the rest of the weekend.

Best of luck! That's an awful ordeal to go through, just for a couple shocks which should be fairly common. At the very least, have a set at the warehouse. Good thing you looked in the box.

Well it dried up today. It was pretty wet this morning but quit raining somewhere around the first heat. The sun even came out! Times were dropping like crazy in the first two heats as things dried up.

The corvette held up alright, I was closer than I expected, though not as close to the front as I would like. I really need seat time this year for practice.

You did pretty well considering all the crap. Koni will likely fix this one for free.

I did much better than expected, and was very pleased with Sunday's results! Thanks to everyone who tried to assist on Friday and Saturday. I'll be posting a blog and pictures later today, video later in the week.

    Re: Holy Wetness Batman

If you have the off the shelf Koni Z06 shocks this seems to happen when the adjuster is either in the full min or full max positions

Either try to avoid those positions or if you need to use them be sure to turn the adjuster back the other way a small bit after going to the extreme.  Be particularly careful not to use too much force on the adjuster when it hits the end stop of the extreme positions.  This is the most common cause of the problem on this particular shock.

Well, I emailed Lee Grimes at Koni on Wednesday, haven't heard anything yet but I hear rumors that he had surgery or something last week.

I ended up hearing back from Lee and I believe things are going to be good with the shocks. I just need to get a moment on Monday to call the warranty guys.

    Re: Holy Wetness Batman

It took me forever to actually ship the shocks back to Koni, I'm a horrible person when it comes to actually mailing anything. I shipped them last week and replacements showed up today! More info posted in the blog

Thanks to Koni for some excellent customer service!
