    Looking for advise

I have a chance to acquire a shifter kart for Solo and admittedly know little about the autocross karting world. The set up I'm looking at is a 2004 Goldkart Firefox chassis with a Pavesi 125 ICC engine. My biggest concern is the engine - does anyone have any knowledge or experience that they would be willing to share regarding the engine?

Any tips on what to watch out for?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Looking for advise

www.ekartingnews.com has an excellent set of forums with a lot of knowledge.  I would post in the correct sprintracing forum for more info about your engine.  I believe that would be the regular "2-Cycle" forum, possibly "125 Shifter"

     Have fun,

    Re: Looking for advise

As an ICC engine, it will be potentially faster than the typical-for-autocross "Moto" Honda or Yamaha.  That appears to have them headed for a weight penalty in 2009.  Aside from that, ICC's are more critically difficult to tune, and far more expensive to rebuild, with shorter times between service needs.  If none of that deters your interest, and the deal is cheap, have someone with knowlege of shifter karts look the entire setup over.  Dale has the right idea, regarding EKN.  Visit/join the forums, and ask in the Shifters section!
