Well I don't have a working ride at this point so if anyone wants a codriver they can make fun of for not finding the gas pedal I'm available. Still fighting the computer problem with no tach signal getting to the new computer. I suspect a wiring error in the added circuit we had to build into the computer to be able to use the stock ignition and CAS. Just did'nt have time to redo it. No matter what I will be there tomorrow to enjoy the company and take care of the waivers workers and anything else I can help with.

    See you tomorrow everyone.

Jeanie and I made it back home to SW-MO - safe & sound. We both had a great time, thanks for having us!

I'd probably comment more - but a short "road nap" is all we're goin' on, and I'm gonna hit the sack right now.

    Thanks again, all!

Even though we arrived after the auction, we still had a great time.  It was nice to see some friendly faces after a long time.  LET ME SAY SOMETHING ABOUT WORKING GRID! I am not as incompetent as I look Stick out tongue !!! I know T&S might think that there were some issues at times, but the pace of the index challenge was far quicker than most drivers were used to.  They would often not be prepared for their turn when asked.  Since they were not going out in grid order, they were not aware of when they would have to go out and would therefore chat with their fellow drivers.  Occasionally, one would leave grid for their run even though they were not supposed to run.  I would also get asked questions about what time they got on their last run since they could not see the results in the dark, while I am trying to send others out.  It is not the drivers' fault for what happened, it was a bit of organized chaos, but please be aware that I was also not asleep behind the wheel.  ( Carla, do not shoot me).  A big thanks to John Powell also for giving me that fun run in his vehicle. It was a ton of fun, even though I had no idea what the course was like and driving at night made it even more difficult.  John said I had a decent time, but I am certain that I left over 2 seconds out there because I was busy just trying to figure out where the course was going and had no idea what was next.  All in all, it looked like a great event and thank you to all those who put the event together ( Jan, J.D., Lee, Lynn, Carla, etc. ).

Much thanks to Arshad for jumping in and helping with grid during the index challenge. Arshad, you did a great job. I was just trying to keep us moving on a timetable with new and exciting challenges being tossed in. I agreed that the challenge was organized chaos.  We all got through it and thanks to all for making it work.

Many thanks to Greg for giving me a co-drive in the red CRX; I've seen the light about these old little Civic's, and I'm not sure how to feel about that!  It was a fantastic and memorable event, and everyone who had a hand in putting it together should be proud of themselves!

There were two goals for this event

    1) Raise some $ for a great charity in Honor of Nicholas - ACCOMPLISHED!

    2) Cause lots of Smiles on all the people who attended - Did we do this one?

I saw lots of smiles, it was a fantastic event.  Seemed to be lots of new people.  Being rookie chief I got to ride with or just meet alot of them.  I hope they had a good time and return for more events.

I had some reservations about the course when I originally walked it, but it turned out to drive better than I thought......   I am glad that we had the chance to drive it while it was light though.  Driving the course after dark was an interesting experience, especially in the areas at the far corners where there wasn't much light.  I doubt that I would have been able to find my way if I hadn't already been on the course.  Must have been really difficult for the guys with no headlights!

Re: July Solo "OH SAY CAN YOU SEE - SOLO FOR NICHOLAS" Details Confimed

I'm going to be honest because I think I'll be speaking for some other people I spoke with, I was a bit disappointed about only getting to do 3 competitive runs for the day. If I had known that ahead of time that was all I was going to get I would have gladly donated my entry fee and spent the evening with family. I hate to sound bitter especially for an event that benefits such a great cause, but I do ask the organizers to please clarify on this in the future. On a positive note I think you guys did do an exceptional job running the event despite not having all the usual personnel around.

Re: July Solo "OH SAY CAN YOU SEE - SOLO FOR NICHOLAS" Details Confimed

Sorry you expected more runs.  Appreciate your comments.

We actaully never promise more than 3 runs before the any event starts. - - more runs are often added after the first heat is almost done and the time factor is calculated.  Sometimes fun runs can be added too. If an event had an oil spill, weather problems. large turnout or other event junk we could run later and have to cut runs for some classes and not others, which won't work for the Takata Index Championship Series.  I realize that the St. Louis Program has often given more runs, but 3 is all that are promised before the event.

I was talking to someone last night about this very subject.  I think that 3 runs should be offered for competetion and then if we can get done (which we usually can)  then go to fun runs. That way those who want to leave can do so and those who want to get more runs can stay and play.  Andy Hohl put together a Fun Run Sigh Up Sheet for events and this can allow them to occur and get the stuff packed up too.  Some people don't want to spend all day at an event, and some want like to stay all day and do marathon runs if possibhle.  That would allow both.

    Jan,

I would not change the format too much.  I like the fact that I can get 4 or 5 competition runs (I would think most do).  This allows me to try different things without worrying about having to throw out one run.  Fun runs would be great after the fact, but during the heat I am focused on how to get better and the scoring will let me know if I am or not.

I realize that 3 is more the norm, but 5 runs are very helpful to us novices.  Please don’t short change us.

    God Bless,

    Jeff

We can't guarantee 5 runs due to weather, equipment failure, etc.  The rules say we must have 3 so that is what we "guarantee" but even unforeseen events can prevent that.  Events have  been cancelled.  We are not going to change the format, unless we consistently get 140+ entrants.  Then we''l change to a format where you will get 6 runs.
