Bottom line - listen to Jeff. In fact, that's good advice in general.

Re: Signed up for class but just got a new car

Thanks for the help.  I will have to get the black with having a silver car.  I will ask is there is any way he has blue though.  All my silver cars I used blue on.  they where easy to read.

    cashmo:

If you're running 140+ treadwear tires, (which it sounds like you are) then we only want to see the A (for AWD street tire class) on the side of your car with a number.  You'll use DS (for D-Stock) for your index when you register.  That's assuming an 08 WRX, if it's an STI then you'd use AS for A-Stock.

If you're a annual member you can go here to reserve a number, (46 is currently open).  If you're not yet a member, go here to sign up.   A lot of this is explained here.

I'd email John at K&M telling him you want him to bring two of the following, (one for each side of the car).  4, 6, A.  If you ever plan on going to DOT R tires like the Hoosier A6 then have him also bring a couple D's and S's.  He's got white and black but may have other colors available.  Remember to use contrasting colors, black and red or white and silver are usually bad combos.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

He is sending me some samples for different colores to I can figure out what will look best.  I have a lighter silver so not if white or black will be better.  He does have blue so I asked for that also.

In two more weeks will be back on the track I can not wait. :)

White will not work. That's what Jeff was saying with "white and silver are bad combos" but if you are buying from K&M you can have different colors.
    I need more tape!

Re: Signed up for class but just got a new car

I am thinking black will be best or the blue.

BTW if I upgrade the front swaybar is it OK to upgrade the front endlinks that connect to it?  What I am not sure of is if the endlink is part of the swaybar or not for the upgrade.  I do not want to have the OEM break becasuse of the larger swaybar.

Re: Signed up for class but just got a new car

Endlinks are replaceable in stock, go for it.

Either black or blue will be fine, go with your personal preference. Here's black and here's my car running blue. I got them from K&M and, while I wasn't happy with their communication, the product is fantastic and I like their service to the autocross community. Buy with confidence. The pics are on Andy Seipos's website - he's our fantastic official photographer. Feel free to dig through his pics for more examples of color, font, arrangement, etc. There are a lot of options, including arranging a bunch of kitchen magnets.

Re: Signed up for class but just got a new car

I am now signed up as a SCCA member.  I put my car under the number 46 class DS all wheel drive.  This is all correct right?  I just want to make sure before I pre-pay for the next Sunday.

Re: Signed up for class but just got a new car

    That looks correct.

You will need to put 46A on your car at the event.

Re: Signed up for class but just got a new car

    Thanks,

I am paid up for the weekend.  Sent an e-mail to get my numbers and letters done for my car so I can pick them up Sunday.  I ordered A and DS for just incase.  I have a alignment setup at my local firestone dealer that just opened in my area.  They have a lifetime alignment for $150.  They will do my car to any specs I want.  I checked I can do a summer and winter alignment every year with no issues.  I just pay this $150 once and I never have to pay for a alignment again as long as I own the car.

I can not wait only 6 more days till racing. :)

Where there 08 running last year?  I just do not remember any.  Just kind of weird I think there is going to be 3-4 of us this weekend with a 08.  Will be nice having car that are stock like mine.  At least know I have something to go off of if I am running good or bad.

like bart said, there were two last year, me and brian, and we both ran very well (usually near the top of class).  the car does really well.  it's got lots of body roll (so jack your tire pressures way up), but once you get used to it, it's a nimble little car.  Smile

Re: Signed up for class but just got a new car

Wow just must have missed all you guys some how.  At that time I was not looking for a WRX so maybe that is why.  I had not plans to get on at all at the time.

Fixed up my old 7gal air tank.  Got a new hose and fixed the valve so no more leaks.  Did not have that last year but fixed after not working for about 4 years.

I know friday I am going to be going nuts.  I have the day off and my car will be in my shop being checked to make sure everything is good.  Just getting preped and getting that helmet out is going to get me going.

Right now I just can not wait for the weekend. Big Smile
