Well, TSSCC (sat) and CHI Region (sun) have events the weekend of April 12-13 at Route 66 in Joilet, IL, which is a little closer than Des Moines.

So it's 2:10 a.m. and I'm in Milwaukee right now.  After finishing putting the car back together and getting the new set of RE01s mounted today I seriously contemplated not sleeping tonight and going down to Joilet.  I know I'm going to have to wait seven more days but the bug almost had me pulling the all-nighter to get my fix.  See y'all next week, save Jason and Craig, have fun guys!

Some of us have been there.  Colin and I were putting my suspension on his car (his revalved koni's had not come back yet and my engine was not done being rebuilt) the night before a race and it was really late, then it started raining, we went under the car for shelter, water started running under the car and soaking us anyway.  We were up until 2 - 230 something like that, raced the next day and I took index at the event.  It was a rough day however, with 3 dirty runs and one spin, I didn't even take my 6th run.  It only takes one run and it was great.

I was preparing my spec for the first Chicago event back in '05. It was about 1am and I swapped out the front lower control arm and rotor. Driving down to the event at about 5:30am near the Kenosha exit I went to hit my brakes and a rooster tail of sparks start flying...apparently I forgot to tighten the bolts and the caliper fell off and pinned itself between my wheel and the rotor. A year later preparing for the 2006 season we built the car from the ground up and were running behind. I worked for 37 hours straight to get the car ready, I was so tired I began hallucinating. When my co-driver checked over some work that I had done he noticed I installed only one brake pad and it was backwards. I also managed to install one and a half throttle body gaskets which made is miss the race, which in retrospect was probably not a bad thing. So there are two important lessions to be learned:

1. Never let me work on your car

2. Pushing yourself on little sleep to work on a car can end up being more costly in the end.
