    weekend memberships

Our region is debating if weekend members should get points.  Many of us say Membership is the keyword and they should get points.  Otheres say only if they are FULL members.

What are you other regions doing?

    Re: weekend memberships

You might want to think about calling them... Annual Members and Weekend Members.

I still think it's something that the region needs to decide.

Also, in the Milwaukee Region all participants receive points for the event, we only provide year-end awards to members though.  I would assume this year that would apply to only annual members.

    Re: weekend memberships

I'd give each and every person participating points. If an Annual member can't beat a weekend member, so be it. They get less points. When it comes to the end of year awards, you typically have a minimum event standard for receiving one. As long as it's not 2 events, no weekend member can obtain one.

    So where's the problem :)

    Re: weekend memberships

Well, the weekend member could continue to just purchase weekend membership each weekend and attend each event.  Then at the end of the year they would have points for all of the events.  I suppose they wouldn't have those event under the same weekend member number, but I don't see why that would matter.

I agree that they need to receive points, the point of the weekend membership is for them to purchase an annual membership at some point.  If they attend events #1 and #2 as a weekend member, then purchase an annual membership at some point later in the year they should be credited with their event #1 & #2 points.

As far as year end awards, I think we are just going to treat them like we treated the old non-members... they can see where they would have been with there points, but they are not eligible for an award.

    Re: weekend memberships

Dellta region gives points to all competators.  If you are a weekender and attend enough points to earn a trophy well it cost you lots more money to do 12 individual  weekends vs. regular membership.

Our membership chair is pretty aggressive in getting people to join regular membership.

    Re: weekend memberships

I think anyone who participates (save for individuals who opt out of the classing system, such as those in X-class) should get points.
