    Miata wheels

OK , Just got a 2008 MX5 Sport. I need a set of wheels to Autocross. Is the R package 17" wheels legal to run? Do I need all the R package to use the 17" wheels? Is the R package legal on a Sport? ( only difference is AC and the wheel.

    Re: Miata wheels

    What is the "R" package?

In 2007 Mazda offered the MS-R option, as far as I know it is not offered in 2008

For 2008 the sport model is only available with 16x6.5 wheel

I'm pretty sure the MS-R package is available on the 2008, the SV is listed in the Mazda sales guide

    Re: Miata wheels

They still make the SV model and have since 2006 but unless something has changed in the last two weeks I'm pretty sure your mis-informed about the option package.

For the reasons behind this type MSR in the Search box (14 pages)

    Sorry

    Re: Miata wheels

The car needs to be fully configured as one of the available options packages from its own model year.  You can not mix and match any parts without doing a full conversion to the package that included the part you want.  The more expensive option packages include the 17" wheels.  Mazda dropped the MS-R package for 2008 because the SCCA club racing appeals board shafted them.
