    body work clarification

I have a 89 240sx that I am thinking of setting up for sm. My first question is I have the Nissan Silvia front end coversion on my car which replaced the rad. support, fenders, hood and headlights with OEM nissan parts from the s13 silvia, is this legal? Second, the rules say that the fenders can be replaced but is there a restriction on the material or making them wider, item for ref. http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6319. Third, can the rear quater panel be modified for tire clearance and be covered by and overfender, item for ref. http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6948

     Thanks,

    Andrew

    Re: body work clarification

Only USDM model conversions and part interchanges (other than specifically allowed) are legal, so the Silvia conversion would not be SM legal.

For fenders, any material can be used for the front fenders, and both bumpers (but not the bumper support).  The rear fenders can only be cut up to the vertical plane of the hub face, and only for tire clearance.  This allows you to make the cuts and modifications generally required for over fenders or flares.

    Re: body work clarification

You can use any fenders, really, but removing the headlight motors and brackets would only be legal only if the S14 (95 - 98) front end was a bolt-on affair (per SP's update/ backdate rules) in which case you'd use the newer S14 240sx lights (not the S13 or S15 Silvia lights).  Since it isn't (as far as I know), even that swap would technically not be legal.

If you can list everything that was changed with the "front end" conversion, someone can give you a better answer.
