Hello,

 I am new to the forums here, as well as NY. I just moved from Canada this year and have been getting settled. I plan to get involved with the AutoX scene again, I was very active back home racing with a 1985 200SX.

 I just purchased a 2008 Scion tC, it is completely stock but I plan to make tire and suspension modifications this fall. Where can I find the class specifications on here?

 What is the scene like here? I emailed SCCA.org approximately one month ago but have not received any information concerning SOLO2 etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

I know right where the Coliseum is, my girlfriend attends Hofstra.

I am reading through the rule book now, and I see my car listed under HS Stock class. Perfect. Now, my question is, and perhaps I will find it after reader further, what modifications would bring it up to say a GS glass? What modifications would basically put me out of the HS stock class?

I do not plan to boost the car yet, but coilovers, sway bars and tires will be changed. How will this affect the classing for me?

For the event coming up on the 27th I will be completely stock so it won't matter, but for future reference.

Chris, you cannot do modifications to reclass the car to another stock class (G or otherwise). Various mods will put you in Street Prepared, Street Modified, or one of the Street Tire (STS, STX, STU) classes.

To stay in H Stock, you can change the shocks (this includes coil-overs as long as they do not change seat perch heights from original specs, so staying with a Koni or other similar off the shelf product would be more cost effective). You can change the front sway bar but NOT the rear. Wheels as long as they are the same size as originals (is that a 16" x 6.5"?) and the offset is plus or minus 1/4" of the originals. BTW, the TRD 18" wheels are not legal.

So from your response I gather that lowering the vehicle 1.5" would then put me into something like the SP class. So I can use the coilovers but just need to run them at stock height.

That sucks about the rear sway, while the front will definitely help me with the understeer changing the rear is most effective.

The stock tires/wheels are 17"x7" 215s

SCCA does not use a points system whereas the New York BMWCCA does. Yup, the 1.5" lowering would be fun, just not legal in stock. The sway bar rules is an old rule. It probably won't change in my lifetime.

FYI, NY BMWCCA, MetroNY PCA and SCCA run at Nassau Coliseum. GJ and I can relive Nationals almost weekly. 

If you are feeling energetic, come up an run the New England Region events at Fort Devens, Moore AAF base, in Ayer, MA. Good surface, great competition. Just a distance from LI and Connecticut. I attend most NER events. ner.org

Welcome to the area!

One thing about the coilovers, just to clarify the way you have written it. You can use coilovers, however you must retain the factory lower spring perch and factory springs.

 As stated before, NYR SCCA is running this Saturday, and the NY BMWCCA is running this Sunday, both events are at Nassau Coliseum.
