Re: 2009 Nationals and Pro Finale? Not only where but when?
conekiller:
I would say it isn't entirely relevant, statistically, because of sampling bias (i.e. more attendees form major eastern population centers because of shorter distance, relative to west coast population centers, skews numbers)...But, interestingly enough, it also happens to be (pretty much) dead nuts center of the geographic U.S.,, so I guess my whole idea of moving Nationals farther west is off base...just wishfull thinking of a guy who, currently, is looking at an 1800 mile tow that could increase...
In slow, out fast. In fast, out backwards.

I would agree with you to a point... if Nationals was in, say, Las Vegas... the center of population of the entrants would be much further west, because a certain % of the east coast wouldn't travell and a certain % of west coasters that doesn't travel would... its still interesting to see how close the center is to where we currently are though... Re: 2009 Nationals and Pro Finale? Not only where but when?
Aufaber:Screw it, I vote for Vegas. We could spend some of that huge windfall of money SCCA should have gotten this year, requiring every solo competitor at local events to be a member, to do an awesome banquet and get awesome facilities at LVMS.
Instead of a banquet, National would give each of us casino chips equal to what each person's portion of the dinner would come to. Then we all gamble with the understanding that all money won goes into the pot for purchase of a Nationals event site.

Back in the early 60s Garnett Kansas was the site of a 2.8 mile road course on the streets around Lake Garnett.

Well, if the SCCA did run at Area 51, the results would never be published. After all, there would be denials that anything ever happened at a place that does not exist. Now, back to the forums at the Flat Earth Society web site.

That would also be good for the folks driving cars from manufacturers with warranty police.
Maybe be able to tap into that secret alien saucer fuel. ..."Would a Mr. Fusion kit bump me out of stock?"

Not if there is proof that is was an available option, port installed or otherwise, for your already classed car.

WHAT !?!?!?!?!?!?!?! A "trunk kit"? No f'n way. Those GXP Z0K's and Miatas were SO correct that even God approved them (in a drug induced alternate reality). Remember, all you need is for somebody to assign a part number that can be ordered. ORDERED is the operative word. And man did NOT walk on the moon, the Earth IS flat, and life started no more than 7000 years ago.

I doubt a decision has been made yet. I wouldn't expect an announcement before the Town Hall at Nationals.

Sooner would be nice, but you're probably right on the timing. I'm just hoping that we get to go back to real grip. I've heard there might be work on getting a new deal at HPT.....I hope not.
Atleast the rumors are keeping us busy while we wait.

There will be no deal with HPT unless Ray Irwin has made a significant change in his position that the Nationals are not wanted at HPT.

You mean like by being offered a check? Money talks a different language.

Check from who?
From SCCA for "rental"? If thats the case, get ready for $2-300 entry fees. Maybe more if only 200 people show up. :)
From the Government? The Kansas Taxpayers have to be a bit sore from being ass raped (IMO) already, don't you think? I can't imagine them paying more money to keep us, but there is an outside chance that they could change Raymond's mind by effecting the terms of money already given.
