Would it work better then a NA V8? That I don't Know. With the experience I have with turbo cars I think it might be unmanagable when the boost comes on but if that ends up being a problem all you need to do is turn the boost down. That could be an advantage on a slick course.
I can only tell you a couple of things based on experience autoxing a turbo car. First, I ran an auto trans behind my turbo motor and worked with stall converters until I took out the loss of traction from the boost coming up. Since then, I have reconfigured the rear suspension to absorb that torque spike even better. Second, my current ride makes over 500hp at the crank and it feels slow on some courses and I could use more power.
Again, when I campaigned my car previously, the rules didn't allow the open FI that is currently available. I was limited to the stock components and computer when I started as well as 10in wheels when everyone else had 12s. Unfortunately, I just can't get excited about running a turbo again even with the current rules. This year's west courseI(lots of quick transition)was hard to be fast on with a turbo. It can be done but there will always be a course that hinders a turbo driver. I know the SM cars and the ST cars do this and that but I am speaking based on a CP turbo car.
