    Chris,

Interesting thought about the 13 hour. I think the 13 hour is a different beast then a cut-throat to the death wrasslin (if you are SM) match national. There seems to be much more give and take, I worked turn 10 for Oak Tree national a few years ago... and all the lapped cars did exactly as the AS Camaro did. Not sure I agree with the car limping, if a car was limping it would be covered with a white flag which would have told Inge that dot ahead is off the pace and prepare him accordingly.

I know you have raced there in recent years but the only thing on the track from 1972 to 2000 were cattle........that were grazing.   It was closed for 28 years to include all of the 1990's.   I understand that you had a close race with another T1 driver but was it worth all the damage and expense.   To finish first you must first finish.   Even if the guy behind you got around you...........you would have finished 2nd (or got back around him) and been $11,000+ richer.  Racing for $50,000 or a world championship (might) be different but not for a $12.00 trophy or for a Divisional win that you had said you were not going to try for, and in a car that is too heavy and can not possibly win the Runoffs.

My grandpa said that a man will learn lessons from things that cost him: emotionally, financially or physically.   I think he is right!

Nope!  I taught 3 driver's schools at VIR in 1999 with my 98 Corvette.  The first school was with Car Guys, Inc and was at the North Course.  The next was the full course and then we went back again for the North course.  Send me $20 and I'll send you the video.  I log every event I ever do...along with dates, notes, etc.  My first SCCA school was in November of 2000...and considering by then I'd done the track nearly 10 times, it was a joke.

    Re: VIR 09 Crash

Chris, please do not use David Pintaric in any hypothetical crash situations as above, we have had plenty of that the last year and a half.  Even in pit lane  at the Sprints by an idiot in a BMW trying to win the test day pit stop competition.

What in the hell was he doing???  Maybe your vette needs to be flourescent green so that he could see you in those reflective things on his car.   I forgot to add, now that you reminded me of this dude, he also did win the pit lane acceleration contest on test day by getting his BMW into 5th gear on pit lane, pretty impressive.

That was a great piece of heads-up driving, can't believe you slowed that beast in time to avoid the BMW!
