Trey and myself went and each took home a class win, representing pretty well for MS.
Saturday it was pouring cats and dogs in the morning
and very gloomy, but not raining as we showed up to the site. The first three runs for everyone were wet with standing water, Trey had the FTD in his heat which was pretty awesome for the conditions and I led pax after both of the morning heats. Then the wind mostly dried the course out for some drastically changing times. I dropped back to 7th in Pax (really good ES drivers) for the afternoon, but still finishing in front of some decent ST folks.
Sunday was much of the same with the rain staying longer
. So with fewer people(scared off by the rain) doing only 3 runs vs. saturday's 6, that meant it was wet it some places, dry in some and at least one major puddle to avoid. I chased tire pressures my first two runs and finally nailed a major shock improvement on the third...so well that i turned inside of the sweeper cone i was supposed to go around.
I had easily gained .5 already on the first half and was on the way to a really fast time. The other WRX beat me by .6 but my lead from sat held on for a .5sec victory. Trey also DNF'd on his 2nd run, but came back for an improvement to put him 17thish on pax, while (somehow) I rose to 4th.
The site is pretty cool, being an old AFB, which also means ACRES of space, we used about 1/10th the available ramp space and had 40 sec courses. The midsouth guys were awesome hosts and it sounds like the NT/Prosolo are going to be in pretty good hands. Oh, yea, they said the Pro is going to be a traditional mirror setup for those that care. I also got to see some St. Louis region folks i haven't seen since i got my start in 06'/07', which was cool and the Memphis crew from the grenada school made it out too.
