    Mike Byington:
BUDSKi and Chris D     Why come out and just "watch" the racing when you can participate? Don't just look on from the paddock, sign up to work corners.

The prospect sounds intimidating.  What would I need to know before I work a corner?  What's a typical corner worker day?

Nothing to be intimidated about when volunteering! You won't be on a corner w/o someone who's quite experienced! Our corner workers are the greatest and have a wealth of knowledge! It's actually quite a rush because your "on edge" for the entire session watching the participants and taking in every little detail!

I'll let Mike or Diane etc explain the process of the day. Also, you don't necessarily have to work a corner to volunteer... there are plenty of "jobs" that can be done and still get to take in all of the action!

Oh... and someone will go home with a free 4 point rollbar install in October just for participating

"intimidated"? Be not........     "need to know"? Nothing.......      "what's it like"? Work 4 hours - go to lunch, work 4 more hours - go to party!

I don't have time to write all the descriptions of potential activities just now, but if you contact Dianne Prokopf (Flag & Comm Chief <head cornerworker >), she can give you more info. (I'm about to head out of town for the next 11 days.)  If you like race cars and racing, you will enjoy yourself.  There ARE other jobs that you can do besides cornerworking, but the corners are the best place to be for studying on track activities and (sorry Scott) thay are where the action REALLY is. This ain't "Tech" or "Timing"  Big Smile  etc..   Just come out - you won't be disappointed!

Since this thread is about "where you are going", I will be in Memphis Memorial Weekend. After that, who knows? Confused

Plan B Racing was at the last PDX.  great time and the rain certainly made it educational.  If the budget holds up I would like to try the next all day PDX.

After that, August then hopefully October at GIR.  with gas going into the stratosphere range has become very limited.  BTW, track gas was $8/gal. at the PDX. ouch

I had a fun weekend at Heartland Park this past weekend.  I highly recommend driving this track sometime if you haven't yet.  They ran different configurations each day and the long course (Runoffs course) seems easy enough, but I found it fairly challenging.  The short course was easier but still fun.  There was a field of 6 IT7's, which is the biggest I've been in and while I finished both days,  the results weren't the best.  I did somehow find myself first in class early in Sunday's race, but only managed fourth at the finish.  Just gives me a better idea of how much I still need to improve.

That guy in the yellow ITB Golf from these parts sure was flying around there, though. Automobile
