    Alan Dahl:
Mike you'd certainly have more than a chance at the Packwood ProSolo since so far it's only Mitch and I and I think you proved at Everett last weekend that the '06 Miata is no match for the Solstice! :-)

You mean when I got lucky last Sunday???
    HECK! I almost got "skirted"..
    .
I'm sure I'll sign up in time.
I don't know what class I'll be running though.
It will be depressing to watch you guys leave me at the line and for the first 60' but I hopefully can make it up afterwards....
There might be another Solstice running at Packwood too.

Re: Thinking of doing some Pro's in the Solstice..Does it have a chance in CS?

Mike, sorry we didn't see you at the Pro in Packwood. It was a great event. Here's what I did see of the other Solstice while working the course during the challenge.

Running the left side against a well prepped well driven Type R, the Solstice gave up 1.5 seconds to the Type R even though the Solstice was running the shorter course (maybe 0.7 seconds shorter).

Then, on the longer course, the Solstice was about even with the Type R at the turn around halfway through the course. Over the last half of the course, the Solstice made up about 1.7 seconds to clip the Type R by 0.2 seconds overall. I didn't see the Type R driver make any mistakes, he was on line and at the limit over the last half.

So my opinion is that Yes, the Solstice can be very competitive when driven hard at a Pro Solo.

Re: Thinking of doing some Pro's in the Solstice..Does it have a chance in CS?

Just like the DL1 says, the Solstice 60' times are poor in comparision to other CS cars.
Power to weight is poor. The other cars were getting him pretty good to 60'.
Gearing is ok. Just a lot of car to get up to speed.
When driven well by someone as good as Kevin, the car seems to be able to make up what it lost in the start section.
We'll see how Kevin does against some of the current top CS cars at the Finale. That will be the best test of the car in the Pro format. I think Kevin and Darrin now have 2 wins each in CS.
Too bad Kevin got nipped by Andy in the challenge.

I guess Kevin wasn't sandbagging or he would have beat Andy handily. kyle

No that is what you get for sandbagging and thinking you got it in the bag..... Also don't  lift at the finish with Andy in the other lane.

Re: Thinking of doing some Pro's in the Solstice..Does it have a chance in CS?

Even if Kevin broke out to beat Andy, the best "big picture" strategy was to knock Andy out of the challenge when they faced each other for year end points even if it would have caused Kevin to lose in the next round which were the final 4.

At least then Kevin would have had better points going into the year end than he has now. + Andy is going to be tough to beat if he really does have 2 challenge round wins(I think??) that actually count for year end points.

Kevin is pretty pissed he blew it...Live and learn though.

That round where Kevin and Andy faced off "might" have been one of the most important rounds of the whole series in regards to the overall..

Uh-huh...Look at the 60' times...just wait until the Finale when you see everyone at the top of their game...The .4-.5 that the Solstice is going to lose at the start is going to be hard for Kevin to make up...

Does anyone have published 60' times to back up FastMikes uh-uhmmm fastmiking?

I don't believe the Solstice is giving up that much off the start.

the packwood 60' times are posted in the results.    FM is slightly exagerating,   the best launching car was Alan's Mx-5.  the best he could do was about .2 quicker than Kevin.   but if you add both sides that is the .4 FM was talking about...

I do find it hard to believe that my HS Cooper was launching as hard as the Solstice.

Unless the Solstice has a weak clutch?  Otherwise I wouldn't think so either.

Re: Thinking of doing some Pro's in the Solstice..Does it have a chance in CS?

Alan's best launch was a 2.216, and consistently in the 2.2XX (experience???)

Dietz's best was 2.363 and inconsistent. (got sand???)

The 2 NBs had a best of 2.304 (10AE), and 2.287 (04 MSM) neither were particularly consistent.

For comparison, at Mineral Wells my car cut a 2.098 60' on 225/50 Kumhos was the fastest 99 sport (g/f driving), Wootton had a 2.086 in the MSM. That was with an uphill start.

I don't find it particularly enough of a data point to call the Solstice a dog off the line compared to either the new miata, or the NB, which is what it sure sounds like FM is trying to sell us....

According to the Peru Pro, Dan Stone was within the same tenth of all the Miati, with the exception of the new MX5...which had everyone by a tenth...

I call BS on you guys!

Look at Denver and Packwood 60' times for BOTH DRIVERS of the solstice if you don't believe me.
THE SOLSTICE IS SLOW OFF THE LINE.
It's pwr to weight is worse than the other CS cars that come out to play.
It is a VERY heavy car in comparison to other CS cars.

DL1 tells no lies and I WAS CORRECT saying that it would lose some time at the 60' mark.
All the naysayers can tell me I was right about how much time the Sol was going to lose to 60'....it is ok...I don't mind.(funny how going to happy hour makes one so bold...LOL)

Lets just say Kevin was sandbagging...he wouldn't do it at the line. He would do it towards the finish.

Go here and scroll down and download PDF by Darren Disimo for Pero Pro.  http://sccaforums.com/forums/thread/196247.aspx   Dan must have a better motor than the one in the Solstice at Denver and Packwood:-) though I bet not.  The times tells no lies.   The Solstice pulls comparable 60 ft times to 99 Miata.  Your DL1 needs some calibration or your Solstice needs Hoosiers like Dan's car.  Hoosiers are faster to 60ft and this is why they wear out faster:-)

They do seem to 60' better. The BS RX8s at Packwood on V710s were a tenth slower to 60' than the one on Hoosiers.
