Autocross Photo Contest at August 16th Solo
Takata Photo Contest
In an effort to increase awareness of the St. Louis Region's Takata Index Championship, we will have a Photo Contest at the August 16th Solo at Gateway International, with 2 winners that will receive a Takata Time Attack T-shirt!
To Enter:
Take a photo of any car entered in the event at the August 16th event sporting the Takata Index Championship decal. It can be your car, your friend's car, or a total stranger's. Submit the photo or photos by posting to this thread. You may post as many as 10 photos. Please scale your images to 1000px wide maximum. If you do not know how to post photos to this forum, or do not know how to scale the image, please email the photos to the email address below and I will post for you. All entries must be submitted by August 24th, 2009 at Noon.
Eligibility:
Everyone is eligible. If you are competing, slap a Takata Index championship sticker on your car. If you have a camera, take a photo of any vehicle entered in the event with the decal on it. Either way... you could win!
Winning:
One photo will be selected as the winner of the photo contest by James Elterman. Photos will be judged on style, creativity, perception of speed, coolness, awesomeness, and hotness. Only one photo will be selected, but this contest has two winners...
Prizes:
The photographer of the winning entry, in addition to the owner of the vehicle depicted in the photo, will each win a Takata Time Attack T-shirt designed by DorkiDori Clothing in their choice of size. Shirts are also available for purchase in the Solo Performance store.

Questions, comments, trash talk, etc. are all welcome in this thread.

Re: Autocross Photo Contest at August 16th Solo
What, no Takata coffee mugs available? Actually, I'd like to play. My question is how prominent must the Takata decal be in said pic? Simply present? From your description that seems to be the case. I was looking at some creative ways to show the car, driver and Takata decal on my ride "to capture the moment", but none of that will show speed. So, I am guessing you're wanting course busting, tire leaning, full-on, race car photos with a little creativity thrown in? And, can you define photographic "hotness"? I usually only use that term when referencing my wife, car owner AND crew chief.

The Takata decal should be present in the photo. I don't want to limit creativity to say that action shots are required. If you or anyone else has ideas for still shots, go for it. teh hotness is hard to describe; But to answer your question, judging will be subjective based on my taste. When something really gets my attention it is teh hotness. Did I misspell "the" again? Why do I keep doing that?

Look Kyle, I don't think a pile of broken Shelby suspension-parts and shagged Hoosiers with a home-made "Takata" sticker slapped on it is what they're lookin' for here................
Hey! Does anyone other than myself think this smiley looks like a yellow, first-gen Miata?

Re: Autocross Photo Contest at August 16th Solo
this sounds like fun. as I haven't come out because I'm not driving, but it'll give me something to shoot for (ho ho) I would say these two shots have hotness creativity, and sense of speed (one two)
These Obviously are not entries, but something to give an idea. I would guess you'll be there Sunday James?

Does the car have to be moving for the picture to have a "perception of speed"?

You're right, I'll have to also place my championship trophies and Midiv results in the background! There's a reason that Shelby stays broken!! Cuz' we're thrashin' that horse!
Lay off my home-made Takata sticker. I had to buy the big box of crayons to get that Takata green color.

It was great to catch up with everyone today. I saw a few people taking photos so I'm looking forward to the submissions. Here's the first submission from Geoff Sneddon of Greg Havener...

Re: Autocross Photo Contest at August 16th Solo
Here is my taKATa entry:
It is a Furrari getting ready in the very early hours of the morning. The car purs like a kitten. It's four paw drive gives it quick reflexes as it chases the cones. As you know, Furraris are very good at not being seen while chasing cones, so this picture is rare indeed.
