I'll be there.  Maybe this year we'll take a spare motor with us and leave it in the truck...
It's going to an interesting season...

Is it okay for me to bring my new Spec Miata?   Would love to get some "feel" for the car before school next year!

Spec Miatas are well within the acceptable range, Tracy.  Basically the following club racing classes can participate in the PDX's: showroom stock, IT, SM, and touring.

The schedule, supps and online registration can be found here.

Peter Cunningham is the chief instructor and there's a Solo course you can run while not out on the track.

I saw a couple of familiar cars out there Friday.  Anyone want to post times?

Anyone get pictures of my friend's red S2000 that hit the wall at turn 7?  Wondering how bad the damage is to see if someone wants to buy it since it will probably be totalled.

I only have a mental image of it as we went by.  It was a rough day for some, about 4 cars went off, and some others couldn't make it home because of engines going out, or brakes seizing, or transmissions giving out.

Dale, I don't think too many people were keeping track of times but if you saw a red miata hardtop drifting the entire carousel, that was me  Party!!!

Re: March of Dimes RA event still scheduled?

Yes Jimmy, I saw you.  I was at turn 11 had a great view as you came out of the carousel.  Glad you didn't do any drifting through 11 some did, obviously not on purpose.  Next to Peter I would say Brad was the quickest through the kink followed by the BMW during his sessions.  Hope you all had a great time.

As this was my first PDX I wasn't sure if they timed the cars or not.  I would imagine it would have been difficult with the small numbers on each car.

Re: March of Dimes RA event still scheduled?

Score one for driving like a crazy man! I think the fact that the car sounds fast means tricks people into thinking I'm a decent driver.

I may have been one of only a few drivers out there on R compounds, it was a little cold for that.  The guy in the BMW (it was an M-Coupe) was Todd from Concourse Motors.  I had fun screwing around with him, He was on Yokohama R-compounds.   I was hitting the kink at about... 90-100, somewhere in there.  Some of the T1 guys were hitting it at about 110 during the runoffs...

Next time we'll be going back with some better brakes.  I had no confidence whatsoever that the car would actually slow down adequately without boiling anything.  I was braking waaaay early, usually before the downed pointer cone.

It's going to an interesting season...

Yeah, the car & track were too unpredictable for any goofing off through the kink.

Re: March of Dimes RA event still scheduled?

By no means am I qualified to gauge driver's abilities.  I have worked the kink for everything from  Champ Car to vintage  and now a PDX and the car's sound never has been a  part of my criteria for judging the correct line through that corner.  As Jimmy will attest corner 11 is not for the feint hearted at speed but taken correctly it is a thing of beauty regardless of the cars sound and relative speed.  It is correctly hitting your marks on all three points entry, apex and exit.  Regardless of other corners, you had a great line through that corner
