    Milwaukee Region Solo #1 results‏

Results for Milwaukee regions Solo #1 have been posted.  Thanks to all the students and instructors for making Saturdays driver school a success.  Just wish the weather would have held out for the afternoon heats.  Also, thanks to everyone who helped work on the new timing vehicle. It's definitely a step up from the old bus.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I had a blast.  It is nice to be racing again, the winter just keeps hanging in there more and more every year.

I wish we would have done 3 runs in the afternoon, I really need to work on some sort of wet setup.  I softened everything up but I really should have disconnected the front swaybar, I was getting no front grip when it was wet.  I don't think it was the RE-11s as I don't think there was enough water for the tread pattern to matter too much.  Tires work great in the dry though!  Can we get a sprinkler system installed and have a wet weather test and tune?  ;)

It was getting late and Jason was thinking about the cold wet corner workers.  Besides now that we've had our wet event for the year it's guaranteed to be dry for the rest of them.  Maybe?

Looks like rain at the WAI event next weekend, too. :(

They never know this far in advance, but at least if it does I can try to disconnect the front swaybar and see if that helps out.  I shouldn't have problems with this car in the wet!  :)

I don't have any issues with the wet as long as it's warm out, the cold is a killer and pretty much makes the event no fun (especially when we can't manage to find traction anyways).  Hopefully the WAI event stays dry.
It's going to an interesting season...

Yeah, usually I'd agree, but I was also hoping all week last week that they'd be wrong about the rain on Sunday...

Who wants to volunteer to bring some Hoosier Wets to the next event to make sure we don't have issues?

I for one hope we never have another cold rainy day.  The kart is enough of a handful on hot, dry asphalt!

Fun as heck though!  A new cure for crack addiction is to give all drug addicts a shifter kart to try.  They'll forget all about drugs.

Make sure they're addicts first though. If they don't already have drug problems I've heard that they made start a pain killer addiction after a couple laps.

Only 30% chance right now.  I am not worried yet.

BTW Andy has posted pictures from the event also.  Looks like he was only able to get the 1st heat done.

Were you on shaved or full tread RE-11s?  It might not be the RE-11s, but I really think Jason and Craig were definitely suffering from tread depth issues as compared to our full tread Toyos.  I was struck by the amount of grip the Toyos had in the standing water.  It's too bad Jason and Craig didn't have their full depth tires, it would have been a nice comparison.

I like the wet-n-tune idea... but I'm sure most people wouldn't!  Stick out tongue

Shaved in the morning and full depth in the afternoon.  I don't really think it was a water evacuation issue, I just think the front was too stiff still.
