    Re: June Sprints

Not this year for our team.

Any chance the June Sprints can be moved to Road Atlanta or VIR? Both tracks could promote the event and then the June Sprints and the Runoffs wwould not be at the same track. Not much of a chance an out of region driver to get the "triple crown" that Speed TV talks about so much if both events are at the same track. Plus we might have to change the club name to the SCCRA (Sports Car Club of Road America!).

2008 is the 53rd annual June Sprints®, all have been and will continue to be run at Road America. If you'd like to start a "new" tradition at another track feel free but you cannot use the June Sprints® name

The Runoff's are only 44 years old.

    2008 is the 53rd annual June Sprints®,

To be even more specific, it's the 53rd annual Chicago Region June Sprints. Neither Chicago Region itself, nor our premier race, will be moving anywhere.

I do get your point, but I hope and expect that many of the top drivers from around the country will find it worthwhile to make the trip to Road America for both events.

    Re: June Sprints

nice job btw.  you beat my best overall, 5th in 2006.  would've been 2nd if it wasn't for that stupid silicone hose.  then again, most everyone has some sort of hiccup.

i thought you were in a good spot for overall when davia had ecu issues and i figured the viper would eventually have a mechanical (but didn't).  oh well.  4th is awesome.  does peter want to take 2 cars next year?  ha!

Not trying to pick on the Chicago Region for a great job over the years with the June Sprints, but it wil be like running two races of the triple crown at Pimlico and skipping Churchill Downs.

    Re: June Sprints

When they canceled the Drag strip in Texas I thought we were in a good spot for overall as well. We were consistently on top of Davia time wise. And I could count on a bunch of points from the Autox.  Then they reinstated the drag strip and we took an 11th there. I think that put us in 3rd after CMP.  I hit a cone "apparently" on the BMW test track and took a 10 second penalty back to 10th for that event. That pretty much took us out of it.  Peter Drove at VIR and we got really hurt with the wet conditions having a lot of slower cars getting dry runs again taking points away. I think without the drag strip, my cone penalty and the wet to dry conditions at VIR we could have aimed at a 2nd place. The VIPER was silly quick. We later found that on top of a great driver the car had a stickier compound tire then anyone else could buy and some pretty amazing aero work.  Oh well.  Next year it's in the M3 and we are actually going to practice a wet skid pad in advance along with drag racing.  Maybe my ears will have recovered from a GT3 with no mufflers by next year.

    Re: June Sprints

Looking forward to having everyone join us at Road America for the "Sprints". I think you'll find that the "Sprints" will have more of a feel of the "Runoffs" or major National event than the "Runoffs" of Topeka ever has or will.

And just FYI, the dress code could be extremly warm to monderatly cool at night......hell, you never know. It's Wisconsin, if you don't like the weather, wait an hour.

And yes, Mike I do owe you a brat or two. But I thouhgt we were going double (brat) or nothing on this years "Sprints"?

Tracy because it's a local race for me, I won't have any extra passes. In fact last year I think I sprung for a few.

Let's continue to try to promote SSC at the "Sprints" and just get ready for a great time.

LOL ... you have a better memory than I do, your right it was double or nothing. Do you want to bet on qualifying results or race results?
