Lehman's Double Cross thoughts so far......
Absolutely freakin AMAZING weather. Unbelieveable that last year in June the weather could be so miserable, and now it's incredible.
Slippery courses in the AM------more grip in the PM
It was fun announcing for a good guy, Chi Ho------because when he was on course because I would say, "Ok, now we have HO' on the course, and Wood (Grady)----I started saying HO' so much I started cracking up.
Someone needs to give Greg Schumaker, fashion advice, (i know fashion advice from me is like the pot calling the kettle black)----but WOW ! He's like 6' 5" in some sort of crazy glow in the dark tye-die color combination, with a garish pair of shorts-----added a lot of "color" to the event.
Heywood Wagner is doing an amazing job organizing the event.
Karen Kraus comments to me, "What's wrong with you guys from the Florida region ?", as Ruggles and I believe Mike King and others-----took tables up like a 50 foot hill at the Atlanta Motor Speedway----flipped the table upside down, and rode them like sleds down to the bottom----one adventurous sole-----surfed down on a table like a surfboard-----of course everything was under control as Darrin ran to the top of the hill, and acted like the starter of a street race----but again instead of doing it on the street -----it was down a hill on top of a table.
One very "smart" person had their tent flying around the site like a sail. As I was driving with Hector, my co-driver back to my paddock space----I yelled at him to stop the car-----and quickly jumped out, to help grab the flying tent------that smashed a side view mirror, and scratched up another car-----as I got out of my car, I yelled back to Hector, "Get out of here with the car------I will help them----get my car out of here-----as I didn't want the tent missle to hit my car.
too tired to go on.........

Not to dwell on these guys, but we were paddocked across from them. They first set the tent up with no tie downs at all. It moved and hit one of their cars. They weren't around, so my co-driver and I moved it back and put one of our wheels on it to hold it down. We got our wheel back when they put half cinder block to sit on the legs. I did hear that they are doing right by the damage to the other car. Oh yeah - thanks again Chris for coning during the challenge...

Re: Lehman's Double Cross thoughts so far......
Dave, I think greg calls his look "hippy fabulous". What a world class event this was. I sometimes read my grid spots wrong, I ll blame it on the heat. Other than ( my mistakes) that, i felt it was well run. Was a little more difficult with the run once per side then 2 in afternoon, but hey, we all had the same conditions, so it comes out in the wash!
Salute to the Atlanta region for an excellent event and all the hardwork !! :)
*3 Best parts of the weekend for me 1.When Dave was using his deep voice when one of the SS guys was running. I couldn't stop laughing. Keep Lehman on the PA! :) * 2. Rev'ing my engine and CHi Ho in one of the rounds ( a buddy from florida ) at the line and having my foot slip and stalling my car. 3. Darrin Disimo licking his chops at the thought that I was going to line up against him in the first round of the super challenge....only to learn i was in the wrong grid spot, again. ( it always seemed that was the case when Heyward was around in some capacity )

If you're referring to me, it was a DNF, not a cone in the round before you
jackass It was great meeting you, see you this weekend?
I took the easy way, I went into the loser's bracket after the first round and had lane choice most of my way. Had I not DNF'd again on my way out I might have stayed in through the end of that bracket, I'm not sure how many more rounds I had to go. Jinx had me beat on that run, but had a cone, I then went through a cone after the finish, one I am not sure how I made it to.

*chuckles to self* Sorry, I thought you said cone (my hearing isn't what it used to be). If you could/should have gotten by me, you would have faced Andy H. next. I don't know if he backed off any because I was an easy mark, but we were close at the finish.
Yep, flying back down on Friday morning. I'm looking forward to running with everyone again. It was one of the most fun, best group of people I have been around in a long time. I haven't had so much fun (doing anything) in a long time.

Re: Lehman's Double Cross thoughts so far......
Three bad things at the Double Cross
1) Going into the Waffle House across from the Speedway-----a old lady crashes head first into the curb----scary to see----ran in to tell them to call 911----since the cook was outside for a time with the lady and the ambulance-----a rather sizeable delay in food delivery ensued-----amublance took almost 20 minutes to get there--(maybe they got lost)----people were telling the lady not to move, so she remained with her face in rather close proximity to the ground. Luckily she turned out to be fine--other than the sizeable knot on her forehead.
2) I think I lost my favorite military hat in the Hampton Inn
3) "Nucking Futz is MIA---(missing in action)-----just asked the wife where my t-shirt is. She said she saw it a month ago. I think she was mistaken, as she must have got mixed with another stupid shirt. I turned my closet upside down, no Nucking Futz anywhere !
Sorry really four-------Won't be able to wear Nucking Futz at the tour next week, and had to pay a extra $ 30 to enter the Atlanta Tour, because I waited for the last week like a dumb ass.

I gotta say that it looked like you hammed up the rolls a bit after you fell-----however in your defense from top to bottom looked to be 40 or 50 feet

Well, about halfway through the rolls I was ready for them to be over. If that equals ham, then I don't know. Chalk it up to the beers spinning around in my head.

Re: Lehman's Double Cross thoughts so far......
GREAT !
Just saved $30 !!!!
PS-----Mike K.---just wanted to give you a heads up----remember I borrowed your bike on Sunday. Well I am going to apologize you right now. I am very embarrassed about this. Took your bike for a little exercise run around the perimeter of the site, but as luck would have it------my underwear started chafing my leg----rode your bike with my naked tush on the seat for about 1/4 mile. Good luck getting rid of the smell. Again sorry.
See you Friday

Re: Lehman's Double Cross thoughts so far......
Hope that also means the hand grips on the handlebars-----when you said "BEAT", that kinda reminded me what I did----I do it so much, I didn't remember at first.
PS----on a serious side note----The song---"TURNING JAPANESE", by the Vapors, a 80's hit----well when I first heard the song in the early 80's, when I was like 16 or so. I thought the song was really cool, but I had no idea what it was about------over I think a year or two----it was either brought to my attention or maybe I figured it out, that the song was about master*ation.
Well fast foward to present day---I ask Hector to make me a CD of some songs I like----Adreneline by Gavin Rossdale----Extreme Ways by MOBY --(theme from Bourne Identity).........AND
"Turning Japanese" by the Vapors. Well Hector explained that turning Japanese means like when you have the big "O" you like squeeze your eyes together and kinda look Japanese.
I am now almost 43 and finally know what that song is about !
