Things have been pretty busy for me this year. My new baby son Augustine is a month old this week. My family has moved a couple of times in the past six months. We are currently living more out in the country, so I am getting used to chickens walking under the car while I am installing new suspension arms.
Earlier this year I took the GSi out to a Furrin Group ice speed event at Turk Lake. Some new 185/65R14 Michelin X-Ices on BMW e30 bottlecaps worked pretty well. The Storm was doing a nice four wheel power on drift at 60 mph around a very large swepping curve on the course. It is wierd to feel the back of the car so loose at that speed on what feels like glare ice. The Storm became a mini snow plow with some of the snow hat crossed the course in a few areas.
I brought my family out to the event the next day packed into the SC2. The snow had really come down overnight, but there was a 1998 Saturn Wagon I wanted to look at near the event. The directions I recieved from the car's owner and Google maps had us head up this small road. I notice that snow had drifted over the top of the road at the top of a small hill, so I decide to see how well my 2 year old winter tires would do. Well, they did pretty well, but the SC2 stopped about 30 feet into the drifted snow. Needless to say the drift was considerable wider than I could see down below. The poor Saturn Coupe just didn't have enough ground clearance and there was just too much white stuff. Some nice neighbors dug us out, and we got to the event a little late.
